OTHERWISE- THIS SET MAY HAVE THE DREADED 1500UF POWER CAPACITOR ISSUE WHICH ARE EASY TO SEE IF YOU CAN ACCESS THE MAIN POWER PC AND VISUALLY CHECK FOR 'POPPED' CAPACITORS ON THAT PC

From the brief description of your problem it sounds like you have a
component in your unit which is overheating after a short time and
shorting out causing the set to shut down. It could be anything. If you
are not a tech you will need to find a reputable repair shop. I doubt
you could find this, most techs will have problems with this one. Cost
should not be that much. The biggest problem will be finding the
    problem.
so i gave one of them in last post that can be isolated.

    thank you

    Good luck.

If it stays on for several minutes, maybe even 30 minutes or so,
then goes off, bad solder connections might be the culprit. A modest
whack or bump on the side or back of set might confirm this. Whack
it... if set dies, you likely have a bad connection problem. If you
have good eyes, a solder iron and solder, and know how to solder, then
you might be able to find the bad connection(s) on the chassis. Common
locations for this are in the horizontal deflection, power supply or
vertical deflection portions of the circuit.

solution was taken from one of the discussions of fixya.

tough its sounds similar to previous posts it is slightly different. may be it will help.

    thank you

    good luck

a few things..how old is machine..how much air room is in back? anything clogging the air flow inside box

sounds just like a thermal overload issue, that due to sometimes good, other bad...could be early warning of major issues.

well..usually it's not an issue, but depending on your location, heating in room, etc, a fan can be helpful for any large heat source electronics. The fact that it's not included, is due to design, esthetics trade offs.

btw, I don't recommend whacking any electronics device.

WHAT CAUSES THE LOSS OF PICTURE AFTER THE TV HAS BEEN ON FOR ABOUT 20 MINUTES.

Power supply board or the inverter board are where I would start. My first guess is over heating of a board so it shuts down. Check the cooling system as well.

Samsung dlp tv shutting down

Short of having a shop look at it make sure all 3 (this one should have 3) fans are not covered in dust or dirty---

other possible issues are the lamp and or the Ballast that drives it.

Tv wrks for 20 minutes, the the picture and sound shuts down

try cooling down tv with a fan to see if it stays on longer. if so, it's overheating. then to next step. feel for excess heat and look for dark areas on components inside. it may be obvious. if not, you may need to call a pro or replace the set. best buy use to do basic diagnostics for $25, but that was about 7 years ago

Powers off intermitantly

Good Day;

This model is equipped with a self-diagnosis feature to help with diagnosis of shutdown problems. To activate this turn the unit on let it shutdown then press the device and menu buttons on the front panel simultaneously and hold them in for 5 seconds after 5 seconds the power LED on the front panel will blink a two digit sequence. This will be one set of blinks a short pause then another set of blinks, this will repeat 5 times. 1 - 2 = no error detected 2 - 1 = X-ray protect (high voltage or beam current) 2 - 2 = Short protect (short protect monitors low voltage supplies) 2 - 3 = Deflection protect (this could be loss of vertical or horizontal deflection) 2 - 4 = Vertical protect (usually loss of vertical from the source) 1. SHUTDOWN AT POWER WITH SELF DIAGNOSIS ERROR 2 2. CHECK FOR LEAKY C9A60 470 PF 1000 V PART # 154P400030, PARALLEL TO D9A57 ON THE POWER PCB. 2. SHUTDOWN AT POWER WITH SELF DIAGNOSIS ERROR 2 2. CHECK FOR OPEN FUSES F9A04 AND F9A05 PART # 283P043090 ON THE +24 AND -24 VOLT LINES. IF THE FUSES ARE OPEN THE CONVERGENCE OUTPUT CIRCUIT WOULD BE SUSPECT. OR your TV has "COOLANT" (ethylene glycol) on the circuit boards. This fluid comes from the CRT's (picture tube) this fluid is used to keep the CRT's cool, such the name. This fluid from the CRT's leak when TV is on for long periods of time, the chamber expands and the seals leak.

One can remove this fluid by using "acetone" & small brush. The fluid is hard to see, use bright light, they spots can be smaller then a DIME. Also, the fluid can corrode the parts and traces on the boards. To protect the TV in future place heavy plastic or thick cardboard over affective area, make sure TV has proper air flow around TV. Good Luck, big IRISH.

Green flashes then tv turns off

or a new lamp. you could first replace the lamp.
the screen might work fine for a couple of seconds, but then it fades away or deteriorates. This means the lamp is going bad.
