What is the processors that can be compatible for Intel motherboard

Confirm your motherboard's compatibility with the Intel CPU you want to install. Motherboards typically only support one type of CPU slot, so purchase an Intel processor that is compatible with that slot.
Ensuring your processor and motherboard are compatible is vital when choosing parts to build your own computer system. If they are both the same socket type, they will most likely work together.
There are a plethora of motherboard manufacturers, but only two main processor manufacturers: AMD and Intel.
Every motherboard, regardless of manufacturer, has a socket that will accept a processor.
Common Intel socket types include LGA775, LGA1156 and LGA1366. Older models include PGA370, PGA423 and Socket 479.
Your motherboard and processor will be generally compatible if their socket types match. ...

I want upgrade the CPU from 1.6GHz to 2.6GHz, is that possible?

Need more information about your motherboard...Manufacturer, model, version

most motherboards that had a 1.6Ghz processor will usually update to a max of 1.8Ghz - 2.9Ghz

It really depends on the manufacturer and what processors were available at the time your motherboard was manufactured

Sir, I have a Dell optiplex GX110. At the motherboard there is a long brown slot in which a board of 4 expansion slots has been pluged. The first problem was that I had removed the heat sink from the...

When you inserted a test probe into the slot and you saw a spark, then you have short circuit a component on the motherboard and have done a major damage to the motherboard.
You need a new motherboard, most desktop cases have standard mounting holes, you may be able to purchase a motherboard from other manufacturer to fit in the Dell.

I need to replace a motherboard and processor. How do I know what motherboards are compatible?

If you're talking size, you can get the measurements from the manuals--which are available on the manufacturer's website. For processor, you can do the same. A lot of times, the site will separate by processor and by footprint.

Alright, to be serious for a moment, AMD is just one of several manufacturers of what is called a "processor", or "CPU" inside a computer. They also label the models of their processors using their company name in the model names.
Although computers themselves consist of many different parts working together in unison to run your programs- the processor is often referred to as the closest thing to a "brain" in the computer. It is responsible for performing millions of complex math calculations each second, whenever Windows or another program is run and used.
Other manufacturers of processors you might recognize, are Intel (who designed the Pentium line of CPUS), and ARM (which you may not have heard of, but that has had some remarkable developments).
Hope this helps...
