Question about Toshiba 57HLX82 57 in. Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

Double images I just got my tv repaired and the it has double images of writing. The tech said it was a convergence problem and it can be corrected using the remote. I just moved and the remote is packed in a box somewhere as we always used the satelite remote. Is he right? The problem they fixed was a jumpy picture on the non-HD channels and I saw in your notes that the part they replaced caused that problem. Is there any way I can fix it without the remote? If I cannot find the remote do you know where I can get another? Thanks KH in PR Keninindy@aol.com

You will need the remote to adjust convergence.

DOUBLE IMAGE ON SCREEN. tOP OF PICTURE LOOK LIKE A

That symptoms are due to failure of convergence out ICs in your TV that will be replaced to get correct converge picture on front screen.

There are 2 big black IC mounted on big aluminum heat sink and number would be written on as STKxxx, these 2 ICs will be replaced.

If you want to repair TV by yourself then confirm model number of TV to provide you more info or call local tech to replace said ICs.
Thanks.

EVERYTHING IN WRITING IS DOUBLE AND THE PICTURE IS DISTORTED

Hello Tim this is a very common problem with the projection tv set, the problem is coming from the convergence board with faulty ICs that have to replaced in order for your tv set picture to work properly, they do sell convergence repair kits for your tv set but i would not recommend this the reason being is that if you make a mistake while changing out a component your whole tv set is gone not going to work anymore so for this i would recommend for you to call a near by tv repair shop and have a tech come out and change this ICs for you, after you change this ICs from the convergence board your tv set should go back to working normal on the link below you can check out how a convergence board looks like thank you hope this helps.
