I think you'll have to hard reset your device, in order to bypass its present condition.You, most probaly, know that a hard reset will restore your device to its factory defaults, thus deleting all programs you have installed, as well as your personal data and settings. In order to hard reset your device, press and hold both the comm manager and the voice memo buttons, and, whilst keeping them pressed, briefly press the reset button with the stylus pen. Release the buttons when isntructions pop up on-screen, and follow then.

open software update programme. remove battery of phone. connect the USB again, put the battery and connect the charger. then press power key for a second (even if you dont see anything) then connect to software update and try again!

You can retrieve any lost icons press the options or blackberry button (next to the green call button) in the pop up message munu go to show all and all icons will appear including any others you have hidden by accident
