Question about Combination Televisions
The remote to my TV/VCR just stopped working. It has been dropped many times in the past so I thought it was just too beat up. Noticed that the little plastic circle was missing from the front of the tv. Is that part called an infrared sensor? Do I need to replace it or is my remote control at fault?
Philips Magnavox TV/VCR model:CCA132AT01
If the remote sensor cover is missing on the TV, the remote would still work but you may get other effects like the TV changing channels on it own.
This is due to stray infra red signals.
If it's not working at all I would suspect the remote control handset.
You can test it by pointing it at a digital camera lens and watching the display screen on the camera.
You should see white light comming from the remote when you press any of the buttons if it's working.
Digital cameras can see infrared.
