It should be on the side under an access cover with vent slots in it. Each model is different but they are usually located either in the side or on the rear panel. I will ask around the office and see if anyone here knows exactly where it is on your model. You have a Zenith right?

Hi,
This tv has 3 indicator lights on front, Power, Lamp and Temp
I assume Temp light is blinking 5 times after every 5 seconds, if that is correct then it is problem of clogged air filter located in light engine that need to be cleaned.
Below is an image of light engine and air filters locations are marked with red circle, it is job of professional to fix this issue because complete light engine need to be take out from tv cabinet.
Hope these info will help you, let me know if you have additional question or need service manual copy if you want to repair tv by yourself.
Thanks.

Tv is displaying to clean air filter, where is the air filter? How do you clean it? Does it have a reset?

Found on the net:

The Panasonic air filter is located BEHIND the removable Front Panel.....it pops off and you should see it located in a "screwed in" panel.

But, it MAY be located on the BACK or side.....LOOK for a Grille with a grey or black foam piece. IF you don't find it behind or beside the TV, then pull off the Front panel.

Now, those foam filters can be removed from the grille-plate to be washed......the best way to wash it is to PUSH the dust out of the filter by turning the Clean-side of the filter TOWARDs your water source (the faucet or the Much-preferred Kitchen Sprayer)....Now get that DUST OUT!
Once finished cleaning just shake all the water out of the foam panel. Snap it just like you're snapping somebody with a towel. Still Moist? Don't worry, the plenum on the TV is pretty long and "moisturized air" won't hurt the bulb......

Reassemble it......

And DO NOT let that filter go that long between Cleanings!! It EXTENDS the life of the bulb when maintained regularly.

The TV keeps shutting down due to over heating. Is there something that needs to be cleaned?

Hi,

Yes you need to clean the AIR FILTER located in TV.

Please follow the steps below to clean it.

1. Turn the television off and unplug the AC cord.
2. Locate the dust filter on the left side panel of the TV.
3. Using a phillips screwdriver, remove the two screws that hold the dust filter cover in place.
4. Remove the filter cover, set it and the screws aside.
5. Carefully remove the filter from the TV.
6. Clean the filter material by dusting with a lint-free cloth.
7. If the filter is soiled, you can rinse it with water. Do not use detergents or soap on the filter.
8. Completely air dry the filter before placing it back into the TV.
9. Replace the filter cover and secure with the screws.
For showing location i have attached a image.

A screen comes up and says time to clean air filter, Where is the air filter located?

I just experienced the exact same thing. The tv will shut off if it gets too hot, and a clogged air filter will make it too hot. My tv is still under warranty, but I watched the technician do it. He removed the front and back part of the tv. He got down to the bulb enclosure in the rear of the tv, which is where the filter is located. He used my dirt devil and a brush to clean out the filter and the whole general back of the exposed tv. The he put all the pieces back on the front and back of the tv. Hope that helps!

How do I clean air filter on the Panasonic PT-50LCX64?

I feel bad for you having such problems with the vendor and the technician too.
The location of that filter could be a small window in the back cover itself. could be a plastic window to the left side of the unit and is only a piece of plastic poliuretane kind of black sponge about 5 by 3 inches size .
What im interested telling you about the shut down condition and is maybe even most important than where is the air filter (who is one of the more than ten posibilities why the tv goes to shut down.
Note:
if the air filter is totally obstructed i would give one of ten probabities of suspicious why the tv shuts down:
first because the tv's air duct is not really isolated. The fan can eat air by any side of the air filter base as i said if the filter is totally obstructing which is really extreme. besides maybe the other 2 fans could help to cool down the unit in that case scenario. In my experience Most time the air filter holds tons of dust but is not totally obstructing the air passing, and really some other problems are in the set.

This is the really critical to know: if any of those fans stopped or maybe any sensor is overheated or the lamp is coming to dead or who knows.. a diagnosis is needed for this symptom really common in DLP technology.

Needs to locate air filter

It is located top of light engine. left side, fan is on the right.Black plastic vent facing up-wards.Right over a circuit board that has a wire going to the fan.Take out 4 gold screws filter is inside.
You can wash it w/MILD soap and water. MAKE SURE IT COMPLETLY DRY before you re-install it.Or use air in a can.
DO NOT BLOW air into the vent. You will damage the lcd by blowing dust on it. or cracking it if air gets cold. Hold can UP-RIGHT so air is NOT cold. If you need picts. Contact me at toddthetvmd@yahoo.com Hope this helps. Todd
