Question about Audio Players & Recorders

I have a Siemans NCDC 2015 car radio that switches itself on at any time. No problem if it is whilst driving but a drain on the battery when parked or over night.

The Siemans NCDC 2015 is a Radio/CD player/Sat nav/Telephone unit and quite complicated in 4 units. Radio/control- CD stack and player- screen- and Nokia telephone unit. The units on/off switch is on the main-Rado CD unit (2 units strapped together)

  • tgarbet_889 Mar 13, 2008

The units are factory fitted to the existing wiring loom. The radio normaly works omly when the ignition is switched on but can work when switced on with no key in , then it is designed to switch off after 1 hour.
The ignition switch has been changed and the car electrics checked out by an auto electrician. the fault is reported to be in the radio unit!

You could also purchase a new head unit on eBay and swap it. The head unit and Graphical display do need to be de-paired before they will work with another unit. A tech2 technician is needed for that.

A wrong electrical layout must be consider. The connection of all devices and apparatus on your is only directed into one line..

Which is the line/wire were connected also directly connected to the car battery. By that your car batt can possibly drain, coz of the four device connected and sharing into one line...

Go to the auto shop and get help fix it my an auto electrcian expert.

Thanks,

This may be due to some shorting of the circuits in power board

My Sony radio XDR-S55DAB has completely stopped working. Initially all that showed on the display unit was the symbol for a dead battery but this also appeared when it was mains connected. I have pressed...

I have noticed exactly the same issue with my Sony XDR-S55DAB

Even if it has batteries installed but only working off mains electricity, after several months it will not start when the power button is pressed and I have to replace the batteries.

The radio will work again if you just replace the batteries with fresh ones

Try this next time the batteries go flat; disconnect the radio from the mains, replace the batteries with fresh ones, and leave for a couple of minutes (you do not have to switch on!).

You can remove the batteries if you like then reconnect the mains cable and press ON

If your radio behaves exactly the same as mine, it will spring into life so how come?

In the "olden days" ie pre-2000, small portable radios often had a physical switch which connected and disconnected the power supply be it battery or mains.

Nowadays, many radios don't have a "proper" switch, but a "function" button - press it on, and the radio operates, press it again and the radio stops - to enable this, a very small amount of charge is required to keep the central "brain" alive in order to notice this, and in the case of the Sony XDR-S55DAB, this only seems to be supplied by the battery, not the mains adapter.

My advice is simply keep a spare set of batteries handy and replace them whenever your radio wont turn on. Using the mains adapter allows the batteries to lastfar longer than using the batteries on their own.

It is completely counter-intuitive that a "battery/mains" radio needs batteries to work off the mains, but this is the only design fault can find in an otherwise excellent radio.

Turned radio on today and the on/off button has disappeared into the radio itself. OK its a few years old but surely this is the button with the most usage? Any way round this problem or does this mean it...

open the unit,, not knowing which make and model makes it hard to reply to your question, but I doubt that its time to bury it,, check the switch to see if its board mounted, by this I mean soldered to the main board , if so,, and you can solder,, just get a replacement ,, same thing if its free standing, meaning its a separate switch that just has wire leads, either way you can replace them,, just don't plug it in , this could short out other componants and then its burial time, depending on cost, any local TV shop could put one in if your not sure about it,,

I can not figure out to wire my aftermarket radio in my 96 chevy

I bet you the "battery" supply wire touched a ground somehow and blown a fuse. This wire is responsible for the memory, since it always have battery voltage in it. Unless of course you take out the battery connection. I would recomend looking for that blown fuse first. If the stereo was hooked up right you should not have memory problem anymore and the interior light working again. If you still have memory problem, you probably have the "battery" supply connected to the red accesory wire, or you have them both together. Having them both together is not a bad thing, only that it should be connected to the "battery" supply. You can turn on your radio with the ignition switch off. If you hook both on the "accesory wire" you would loose all your setting and memory on the radio each time you turn off the ignition switch. Remember not to touch the speaker wire to the ground, because the amplifier in the radio will be fried up in a fraction of a second. Some good radio has a protection circuit for that, but don't bet on it. I am confident this will help.

Onkyo TX-SR605 - Suddenly switches itself off and back on

HI, this is a reset procedure that this unit is trying to initiate. there has been a surge of some sort that the system has survived but, there is some lasting damage as well that has resulted in a slight programming error within the mother board.

This unit has a program that was installed at the manufacture. it runs the basic operations. there has been some major damage that is causing the internal program to stall and reset itself. the only way to reprogram is to send it back to the manufacture or, you can locate a local repair depot through Onkyo. the Onkyo techs are the only option when re programing is needed.

I had a new battery put in now the radio comes on and COD is displayed. HELP I need my music

Hi,
I'm assuming we are talking about a car receiver, and you just had the battery changed in the car. Changing the battery triggers an anti-theft feature in the radio, as if it had been taken out of the car and was trying to be used someplace else.
If it is a factory radio, you will have to go by a dealership to get the code. I drive an older, beat-up BMW, and the one time I needed a radio code for it, I was required to bring the car in physically. One, to make sure a dealership hadn't swapped radios somewhere along the line, and Two, to make sure I wasn't the thief trying to get the radio I had just stolen to work! :)
If this is an after-market car radio, there should be a code in the paperwork that came with it.

Vauxhall astra radio keeps switching on and off on its own

I had this problem for the last 2 weeks, didn't think much of it, but recently the car radio just turned on and off by itself, it decided to do so whilst the car was switched off and it drained my battery. After doing some tests with the Amp meter and removing the fuses for the radio and infotainment system the amps going through the batter went from about 0.7 to 0.001 (far more accpetable) - so the radio was draining the battery and randomly turning itself on/changing stations and the internal display system had stopped working.

after putting the fuses back in and re-testing the radio worked fine (almost like it had a full reset - no random turning on and off OR changing of radio stations)

the fuse box for my astra was next to the battery under the bonnet (see your car manual - I had lost mine so googled for it)

http://pdfcast.org/pdf/2006-vauxhall-astra-owners-manual-operation-safety-and-maintenance

PAGE (267 or 265)

but it seems yanking the fuses for the radio (FUSE number 35 and 36) seemed to fix it (been a few days and no flat battery) -

It maybe an intermitent fault, in which case i'll have it looked into, but as garages charge an arm and a leg i'd give this solution a go and if your battery is good all you need to do is remove the fuses and put them back after say a minute or so)

I have a Denon RCD M33. It will turn on no problem but as soon as I press the eject button so that I can insert a CD it turns itself off.

I had to press all the eject, play and stop buttons simultaneously whilst at the same time pressing the on button.

Siemans NCDC 2015 Car Radio/Sat Nav/Telephone/ CD player

Heres a question....does the main power switch "feel" like the others.

The main power switch is one of those that gets a workout. After looking at some images, I am going to guess that it is what is called a "Tac" ( short for tactile ) switch.

How do you tell if it feels right?.....go to the least used switch on the unit ( is should theoretically be like new if it is the least used ) ,and very slowly push it in. What do you feel?....some resistance and then it gives?.....do you hear a slight snap ( make sure the unit is off or the volume is all the way down ). Now go to the power switch....does it feel the same ? A sign that ths switch is finished is that there is no travel to it, that is, when you push is it stops immediately....the least used switch should have a little "room" in it before it hits bottom and makes the connection.....I'll bet the switch is shot.......give it a go......Thanks..Rob

If you can feel a big difference in the switches, then I would take it to a local electronics shop and see it they can replace the switch ( those type of tac switches are EVERYWHERE ), or maybe find a seimens shop and have them look at it.....better than 1500 !!!!
