The NSR is a 2 stroke, so it needs 2 stroke oil as well as petrol. This is the reason they are known as "Stinkwheels". If the engine is run without oil in the mix it will seize. As the oil provides lubrication to the moving parts. You should also check the spark plugs are clean, they can oil up in a 2 stroke, especially if the engine is used a lot at low revs.
lol sorry to be the bearer of bad news but its still restricted most likely factory unless its second hand and restrictor kit was put in then would take a mechanic to get to the restrictor also stop driving the bike so hard is only a 2 and while do it damage if ya keep driving it so hard low gear driving will wreck your 2 stroke but best of luck in the future drive easy bud
First things first - the 150cc engine is a diluted version of the CBR 150. Therefore, take into consideration a 180cc bore-up kit. This replaces the cylinder and piston with a higher compression and obviously 30cc extra, adding to the torque and top end power.
A Honda NSR carb will see good power, but more fuel will be used. It is from the two-stroke NSR which revs much higher than a Unicorn or a CBR.
Both upgrades suit an Enduro exhaust, this is a larger bore has a good noise to it but most of all frees up the gasses and expels them quicker, meaning it frees up around 10% power.
Put all 3 upgrades together and you will need a K+N filter or equivalent, which will allow the engine to breathe better. Do not put an air filter AND and exahust only on it, as it causes the air/fuel ratio to lean out, actually losing power (personal experience).
Chances are your speedo cable is starting to wear.. on both ends of the cable there will be little plastic pins that stick out, when you put the cable back in you need to make sure that these pins (they are flat rectangle shape) insert into the correct place and align up properly.. but it sounds like your going to have to replace the speedo cable, its a simple job once get a new one..
you will be able to purchase one from a honda dealership, honda motor cycle dealer. if they dont have one in stock they should be able to order you one from the honda factory.
2 stroke oil feels alot different than brake fluid and is usually blue or green ,where brake fluid is supposed to be clear but might be root beer brown in a 1991 bike. Stick your finger in and you'll find the one for oil....Good luck to you friend....Tim
