Need to know how to fax from mcf 210c

How to enter Fax mode
Before sending faxes, make sure (Fax) is illuminated in
green. If not, press (Fax) to enter Fax mode. The default
setting is Fax.
How to dial
You can dial in any of the following different ways.
Manual dialing
Press all of the digits of the phone or fax number.
Setup Send
3 - 2 SETUP SEND
Speed-Dialing
Press Search/Speed Dial, #, and then the two digit Speed-Dial
number. (See Storing Speed-Dial numbers on page 5-1.)
Search
You can search for names you have stored in the Speed-Dial
memories. Press Search/Speed Dial and the navigation keys to
search. (See Storing Speed-Dial numbers on page 5-1.)
* To search alphabetically, you can use the dial pad to enter the first
letter of the name you are looking for.
Fax Redial
If you are sending a fax manually and the line is busy, press
Redial/Pause, and then press Black Start or Color Start to try
again. If you want to make a second call to the last number dialed,
you can save time by pressing Redial/Pause and Black Start or
Color Start.
Redial/Pause only works if you dialed from the control panel.
If you are sending a fax automatically and the line is busy, the MFC
will automatically redial one time after five minutes.
If the LCD shows Not Registered when you enter the
Speed-Dial number, a number has not been stored for it.

Color fax transmission
Your MFC can send a color fax to machines that support this feature.
However, color faxes cannot be stored in the memory. When you
send a color fax, the MFC will send it in real time (even if Real Time
TX is set to Off).

HOW TO SEND FAX INTERNATIONALLY

Sending a fax to another county is easy - almost as easy as sending a fax to someone in your own country. The only difference is the phone number that you'll dial.
When sending a fax from one U.S. city to another, you dial a 1, then the area code, then the seven-digit phone number. When sending a fax from the U.S. to another country, you usually dial 011, then the country code, then a city code (which is like an area code), then the phone number. (The phone number isn't necessarily seven digits.) Check out the web site www.HowToCall.info, which will give you the specific country and city codes for the place that you're trying to send a fax to.
Other than figuring out the phone number, faxing internationally is identical to faxing domestically. Fax machines in other countries use the same protocols as ones in the United States, so you should have no difficulty communicating with a foreign fax machine. Older fax machines and noisy overseas phone lines may cause the transmission to take a bit longer than you're used to, but it should get there.
The first time you send a fax to another country, it might be a good idea to listen in as the fax machine dials. On some fax machines, you can press the "Dial" button to hear the dial tone, and dial the number manually. Listen for the ring and fax tone, then press the Start button to send the fax. You might want to do this the first time you send a fax overseas, just to make sure it's working as expected.

I don't understand the one touch dialing on the HP 2140

Hi Suzeo. Many HP fax machines have the function you are requesting. It is called the broadcast fax feature. Look in your owner manual for this feature. If I knew which model you have I would have researched it for you. IF by chance, your machine does not have this feature, it would be money well spent to replace your current machine with one that does. Depending on how many pages the daily fax is, I am estimating that you are spending an hour or more each day on this task. J.

Fax problem. Trying to send international fax to France. I can hear the fax number being dialed ok, but no connection after 12 rings. Calling fax number from phone hooked up through mp530 connects ok! ...

Hi ...

It might be possible that the line is loose or the long distance calling code is incorrect. Follow the below instructions which might resolve the problem.

Sending Using a Long Distance Calling Code The telephone company or PBX system may use long distance calling codes on a phone line as a means to manage long distance calls. This service may extend to a fax phone line and for local phone calls as well. To use a calling code for faxing, enter a pause (or pauses, as necessary) in the dialing sequence to allow time for the phone system to distinguish between the phone number and the calling code. For example, if the calling code has to be entered after the phone number, press <Redial/Pause> after the long distance number and then enter the calling code.
Here is an example of a couple of variations that may be used by the phone company / PBX system. (For details on time sequence between the long distance number and when you must enter the calling code, please contact your phone company or telecommunications specialist.)
Long distance number: 212.555.1212
Calling code: 123456
Scenario One: 12125551212p123456 Scenario Two: 123456p12125551212

Note: The above scenarios include a pause (p) in between the dialing sequence. This pause may be necessary to allow the phone system to detect each set of dialing sequences. The pause length can be adjusted from one to nine seconds, the default is two seconds.

Tips to help you send a fax using a calling code.
  1. To send a fax using a calling code, it may be necessary to add a pause(s) before the next string of dialing digits. The above example shows how a calling code is used to dial a long distance fax number. To provide time before the calling code number is dialed and avoid misdialing, a pause should be added.

    Example: 12125551212p123456

The number of pauses will depend on the phone / PBX system.

It is suggested to confirm if the time before the next set of digits is dialed will always be constant. This way you can always use the same number of pauses for that dialing sequence. If needed, you can also change the pause [Pause time] length from its default 2 seconds.

  2. Connect a telephone to the fax machine.
    1. Connect a line cord from the telephone wall jack to the [L] jack (or item <1>) on the fax machine.

    2. Connect a line cord from the extension telephone port on the fax machine (top jack (or item <2>)) to an external telephone.

  3. To send a fax using a calling code, it is recommended to dial using the attached telephone.
    1. Press the <FAX> button on the operator panel.
    2. Insert the documents face-up on the ADF.

      mp530_adfguides.jpg
    3. Pick up the handset of the attached telephone and confirm you hear a dial tone.
    4. Dial the fax destination number on the attached telephone.
    5. When you are prompted to enter your calling code, dial it on the attached phone.
    6. When you hear the remote fax machine's high-pitched receive tones, press <Color> to send a color fax or <Black> to send a black and white fax. The audio signal heard from the handset will be cut off.
    7. Hang up the handset.
    8. When the transaction is complete, the fax machine will return to standby mode.
Don't forget to vote if this helps ... Cheers :)

Fax machine stoped receiveing fax

First, check your fax's phone line. Put a regular phone on it and check for dial tone and line noise. If the line is dead or noisy, this will cause a problem.
You can also try dialing your fax number from another phone and see if the fax unit picks up the line and starts initiating communication. (sounds like modem noises)

Is there a way to program it to fax to a group of numbers at one time

You can use the "Broadcast " feature to send one fax to up to 112 numbers listed in your speed dial. To set this up:
  1. Insert the original into the ADF.
  2. Press Quick Scan/Reports. The display should show how much memory is available.
  3. Enter the One-Touch or Speed Dial numbers for the recipients you want to send to (one after the other). You can also setup a group dial number.
  4. Press Fax Start. The machine will scan the document into memory and then dial all the numbers you've entered. If any are busy it will attempt to redial.
  5. Press Stop/Exit at any time to cancel the broadcast.
If you need further instruction on how to setup group or speed dial numbers, Brother provides the user manual online.

Hope this helps!
