I have the Nexstar 8. It will not auto align or manual....

I have the Nexstar 8. It will not auto align....well it does after I set in date, long/late etc, but it is looking below horizon for first and second star. It also will not do a successful manual alignment even though I know the stars are correct. My telescope looks upside down compared to the pictures I see with the focus knob know BELOW the eyepiece and the star finder is bottom left instead of on top of the scope!! HELP PLEASE!!!

You must set TIME, DATE, and SITE-- probably does not know your actual location. Read the manual and perform all of the setup procedures.

Some of these have a "starting position" again read the manual and make sure you are in the "home" position before you start the alignment. Read my TIP on my profile page about GOTO telescopes, and join the NEXSTAR forum on www.cloudynights.com

I'm sure by now you found the answer to your question, and it's a very simple fix. You are using the telescope tube in the upside down position, you will need to slew it all the way through so that you will have the finderscope bracket in the upper lefthand corner. This is the definate fix to your issue and you may need to take the eyepiece out of the diagonal in order for the telescope to slew through the axis, othersise, it may hit the base will trying to swing though. thanks, chris walker

correction, it will put the finderscope in the upper right hand side of telescope.

I dont understand how to start and use my nexstar 4 SE computerized telescope

Basically, enter Time, Date, and Site-- level the tripod and do a 2 or 3 star alignment.

All of the manuals are on the Celestron web site here--

How do i align the scope? I have the C8 NGT scope and am new to this whole set up. Any help please.

Read the manual which is available on the Nexstar web site here:

http://www.nexstarsite.com/

Generally you will enter Time, Date, and Site, and Standard Time, and then setup POLAR ALIGNED on Polaris and execute a 2 or 3 star alignment.

I just bought a used 114 from someone, cant see anything out of it at all. read instructions, cannot figure it out. help!

Can you see something in the distance during the daytime?

Did you do the training, set the TIME
Did you do a two star alignment?

You must follow the setup procedure exactly for the scope to have accurate gotos.

Get the manual out and read it several times. You can practice inside just to get familiar with how the scope operates.

I have a bushnell Northstar telescope #788831am. Is there a place i can update the are i am looking from. It knows las vegas nv and does not pull up reno nv. I need help.

I don't believe they have an "update" web site. However they do have a customer service web site here:
http://www.opticsplanet.net/bushnell-warranty.html

According to the manual PAGE 14 choose the closest city.

See this: http://www.bushnell.com/manuals/telescopes/78-8831_Northstar_GOTORV_4L.pdf

Apparently once you center the two alignment stars it does not matter. The closest city gets you near the alignment stars if Time, Date, etc etc are set properly.

There does appear to be a latitude longitude selection in the menu-- see the manual above. See if you can also set the exact Lat-Long in the hand controller.

Have you followed the instructions in the manual? The first thing to do is setup with the time, date and location, then select a 3 or 2 star alignment method to calibrate. Use ONLY the hand controller to move the scope to the stars.

I have the Nexstar 8. It will not auto align or manual....

First do a RESET on the hand controller and make sure TIME, DATE, and SITE, are correct.

If this does not work then RE-load the firmware in the hand controller. If that fails contact Celestron customer service.

Telescope

A low voltage power supply is the usual cause. You must use fresh batteries and or a seperate 12 volt power pack.

Also you must accurately;y do all the setup-- like Time, Date, and Site properly. Read the setup in the manual again.
