Ya, I have the same problem with my Polaroid i830 which broke after three months of use. The screen looks like it's cracked and there is a little black pool of "ink" beneath. When I turn it on, the screen is completely white with a bunch of colored lines going up and down or left to right. I called customer service and they said my warranty does not apply to my situation. Is there any way I can get a new screen or have the old one fixed? I REALLY do not want to have to buy another camera.

I have the same camera, Polaroid i832. Broke the LCD screen, its all cracked from the center outwards and I see only half the picture. I did not find any support options in India on the internet for Polaroid (am based in New Delhi). Now the same camera is available at a Reliance digital store for Rs 4,499/- (approx US$ 96/-).
Is it worth getting the LCD fixed? If yes, then could someone guide me where I could look for in Delhi for support or replacement parts. Thanks. (praveen@freelancevorks.com)

Polaroid i733 digital camera lens stuck open

If the lens is stuck out then you will find it is usually one of a few reasons.

1. Check the
batteries. (obvious I know).
2. The
camera has been dropped or knocked.
3. The camera has grit or dirt in the lens mechanism.

Providing the batteries are ok then 2 and 3 usually mean a professional repair. The lenses tend not to be something that the average
home user can remove and take apart. The cost of repair also might be more than the camera value so you will need to find a good repair shop near you and get a quote.

Polaroid i733 digital camera

Hi,

Initially, let's try a hard reset by removing the battery. Let it be without batteries for a couple of minutes to about an hour. Thereafter re-insert battery and try again. Additionally, pls verify that the battery is fully charged

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

CRACKED SCREEN

You cannot repair the broken LCD screen; the white you are seeing is the backlight for it. LCDs have extremely thin gold deposits along one edge that is contacted by a silicone rubber strip that has fine wires molded into it vertically and one edge is pressed against the LCD panel for contact. It is a fussy arrangement when new and it sure doesn't get any better when dropped.
I wouldn't delay too long looking for parts or repair; Polaroid filed for bankruptcy last week although I doubt if the parent had anything to do with the manufacture of your camera; as with many companies with limited manufacturing means, the camera was surely built by others.

Polaroid i733 that eats batteries

Sounds like you need to change the camera settings and cut down on turning the camera on and off between shots. Viewing pics on the LCD screen eats up the battery life the most... just an FYI.
