Question about Apple iPhone Smartphone

IPhone needs repair/iPhone can't make or receive calls/won't power on

My problem is pretty much the same as all stated here with just one difference... Battery died, I put it on charger walked away, came back couple hours later picked it off of the charger (dock) and nothing happens. When plugged into the back of my Imac, nothing happens, When dock is plugged into power outlet and iPhone is in dock it gets power, but not plugged into wall and out of dock no power. Also have a dual cable, 1 part goes into back of dock or iPhone and splits into 2 cables, 1 is standard USB 2.0 and other is 1394 IEEE when both are plugged into the back of computer and other end in iPhone or dock iPhone gets power as well as acknowledged by itunes, IEEE cable taken out and no power... I dont understand does anyone have a clue??? Thanks

I plug my Iphone 5C into the charger and it does nothing. It isn't the charger because the other phones in the house work when plugged in.

  • Anonymous Mar 21, 2014

Iphone 5C will not register that it is plugged into a charger but I know it isn't the charger because other phones will charge on it.

my zte solar shut off for seemingly no reason. i set it beside me and looked at the time, then it powered off and won't come back on. i took it home, put it on the charger and it became superheated up top and won't even acknowledge that it's receiving power on the charger.

I dropped my iphone in my coffee this morning and almost immediately retrieved it. very shortly after i put it in a bowl of rice and left it there for 5 hours. the phone will come on but intermitently...

Whether the culprit is a sink, toilet or rainstorm, getting your iPhone soaked in water or any other liquid is bad news. If the unthinkable happens, and you don't have insurance, your best bet is to make sure the iPhone is off, swap it down with a dry cloth, then do one of the following immediately:
  • Put your iPhone in a tub or bag of uncooked rice and let it sit for several hours (up to 2 days).
  • Place your iPhone in a plastic bag with a few silica packets.
  • Put your iPhone in a hearing aid dryer for several hours.
The point with all of these methods is to draw all moisture out of the phone as quickly as possible. Just air-drying the unit is an option, but won't act as quickly as the aforementioned methods.
If none of these tactics prove effective, and your iPhone loses significant or all functionality, an Apple FAQ states that if you own an iPhone and it requires service for any reason other than the battery (which costs $86 total to replace), Apple will repair your iPhone for the service fee listed below, plus $6.95 for shipping and handling:
  • 4GB: $199
  • 8GB: $249
Presumably this includes liquid damage, though Apple states ?Service may not be available if your iPhone has been damaged due to accident or abuse.?
We've received reports from some readers who had success having their liquid-damaged iPhones replaced free of charge by geniuses at the Apple Store, but don't count on it. This type of replacement is likely only if it can be proven that the device was damaged during routine use.

Cannot receive calles while any application is open 3.0 firmware jaile breaked by redsnow

3g phone or 2 g phone?
If 3g is the 3g turned on or have access to 3g?
If 2g, accessing edge network read this
The "may not be able to receive calls" portion stems from the fact that there are two types of EDGE network types, NOM1 and NOM2. When your iPhone is connected to a NOM1 network, the data transmission will generally be interrupted, and the incoming call allowed to come through. When your iPhone is connected to a NOM2 network, however, the EDGE data transfer process cannot be interrupted, and the call will generally go to voicemail.
Fortunately, there is a way to check whether you are connected to a NOM1 or NOM2 network. First, put your iPhone in field test mode by accessing the Phone application, tapping Keypad, then entering *3001#12345#* and pressing Call.
Tap GPRS Information and look at the entry next to nom. It will be either 1 or 2. If you see a 1, you'll likely be able to receive a call while transferring data. If you see a 2, you likely won't.
Unfortunately, it appears that NOM2 is much more prevalent on AT&T's data network. In fact, we've yet to see our iPhone connect to a NOM1 network. As such, we can't even state with certainty that the iPhone supports NOM1 at all.

Iphone 2g wont sync

Please look here:

Reset and Restore iPhone to Original Default Factory Settings with Recovery Mode iPhone display freezing? iPhone doesn’t detect by or appear in iTunes? iPhone cannot sync with iTunes on PC or Mac? Cannot make or receive calls, send or receive text messages, or access email or the web? Or worse, iPhone simply won’t turn on and does not respond to tap or button press? If the problem still persists after you have reseted the iPhone, or tried various iPhone troubleshooting, it may be worthwhile to invoke recovery mode to restore iPhone to default factory settings, the original state as when you first received and unwrapped the phone.

Restoration of iPhone to original factory defaults will likely to fix all problem, with the downside that all data and information stored on your phone will be lost. Normally iTunes will make a backup automatically when you connect and sync the iPhone with the program, however, it’s still a good recommendation to copy out and backup everything that you may need on the phone before proceed to restore the iPhone.
To restore iPhone and reset the phone to default factory settings, follow these steps:
  1. Turn off iPhone - Hold down the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the red slider. Ignore this step if your iPhone is already off.
  2. Press and hold down the Home button for about 10 seconds until a yellow triangle with a text which says Please Connect to iTunes appears. iphone-recovery-mode.jpg
  3. Plug the iPhone into Mac or Windows PC. Release the button if you haven’t.
  4. Run and open iTunes if it’s not already opened yet.
  5. iTunes will prompt a message that says iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode. Click OK.
  6. You will be taken to the iPhone pane. Then, click on Restore.
  7. Wait for the full restoration process to complete, and the iPhone will be back to the original settings state as when it left the manufacturing factory, typically a working phone again if you face any problem, unless it’s hardware related
