Question about Audio Players & Recorders

Open Question

"Mechanism Error" Hi, I have a Blaupunkt 6 disc stereo unit out of a 2003 VY2 Holden Calais (Australia). I pressed the eject button to get disc 4 out and after making a few noises I got a "Mechanism Error" and the CD switched off. When I press the CD button the screen shows the cd ejecting graphic for about half a second then switches back to the radio. The back of the user manual that came with the car has three numbers on it: The first is big and in bold: "457" - I don't think this has any real relevance. The second is - "Holden Part Number: 92096457" The third is - "Bosch Part Number: " - As Blaupunkt is a sub-group of Bosch I think this might be more relevant. The picture below is pretty dark (it came from an add on ebay.com.au) but is the same as the unit from my car. Any help or advice you can offer will be greatly appreciated, so thanks in advance! Stewart

What is the exact error it gives you how is it spelled exactly? Once you clean everything with some computer air then I would see how it works. Then you will have to consider replacement. With mp3 technology now. There are much easier ways to go about this. It is nice to keep it stock though.
Thanks,
Lee

SOURCE: CD player won't work

Firstly is it burnt or factory cd? Most factory cd players won't play a burnt disk.
If you have a store-made cd and it is not reading that, then the lens inside the player is dirty and needs to be blown out with a can of "airduster"

Have a Blaupunkt AM FM Radio/In-Dash Ch Cgnager (6 stacker) in a 2003 Holden Commodore. After ejecting the 6th one of the CD's succesfully, get "CD Error mech" message and it will not eject the...

We eventually tried loading another CD to fill the one vacant spot we knew was in the changer even though we'd tried that before without success. This time it seems that we fluked it just as it was trying to eject CD 1 again and - somehow - the CD we were tryng to insert must have lifted the rim of the one that was stuck and it suddenly ejected. The remaining 4 CD's that were inside the changer but not even recognised, then started re-loading so it appears that they were all jammed up together. Once they'd reloaded we were able to eject them all successfully then reload.
We're not sure but think that it may have happened when the eject button was originally pressed once to eject CD 6 then, in error, held down for a 'eject all' procedure and the changer has become confused with both instructions.

You need to visit Alpines' site to download the owner's manual for your unit. In the mean time here is some info from the troubleshooting guide for your error code.

• Mechanism error.
1. Press the "eject" button and eject the CD.
If not ejecting, consult your Alpine dealer.
2. When the error indication remains after ejecting,
press the "eject" button again.
If the error indication still does not turn off after
pressing the "eject" button for a few times, consult your
Alpine dealer.
Note
When the "- - - E" is displayed:
In case that the disc cannot be ejected by pressing the "eject"
button, press the RESET switch (refer to page 4) and
press the "eject" button again.
If not ejecting, consult your Alpine dealer.

Good luck.
