It sounds like there may be a problem with the display of your Optoma ES20 projector. This could be caused by a variety of factors, such as a hardware issue with the projector itself, a problem with the power supply or wiring, or an issue with the display settings. It is recommended that you try troubleshooting the problem by checking for any loose connections or cables, making sure that the projector is receiving a stable power supply, and adjusting the display settings to see if that helps resolve the issue.
Does the dark side have a well defined straight vertical edge or is it ragged and blurry.
Is the picture still visible in the dark area, or has the picture disppeared and there's this darkness that has taken over.
I'm thinking that the optics may have been jolted. Has the unit suffered any impact or the like.
if it is over half your screen it is most likely the light tunnel under the colorwheel. If you have had it awhile the glue that holds the tunnel together deteriorates and they just fall apart. Or, the mirror inside the lens assembly may be knocked out of whack, but it's probably the tunnel.
Have your projector professionally cleaned. It is dust in the inside optics. You should not attempt unless you are very skilled. if you are going to do this yourself have a lot of compressed air on hand.

You would be wrong. Lamps do not do that. They either work
or they don't, they do not cast shadows or give half an image.
What is going on is the light tunnel has failed. It is a small,
4-sided mirrored tunnel that focuses the light into the optical
chamber. It is directly behind the color wheel. I've seen
this probelm dozens of times.
