The extension identifies the file type e.g. - ParisPix1.jpg In this case the type is a jpg or jpeg file. There are many types but I want to recreate what's happening on my laptop. Videos could be mpg avi or many others. Are your files mixed types, or only one kind?
BTW make sure you update your media player online to the newest edition (go to the website or choose "check for updates" from the intro screen) Some new video I have downloaded choked recently cuz of that. And check the "properties" (right click) on the C drive icon to see how much free space you have on the drive. Then yell back which file types are not working right. OK?

    Kelsy,

PS Have you tried the old right-click on the file and "open with" some OTHER player, like MS Paint (if still pic), or DivX media player (if video), RealPlayer etc? Adobe media products allow you to change the extension type so the items can be viewed or played by other programs...just a thought.

Videos have no picture, only sound when uploaded to computer.

First, use a good multimedia player and check the result. I recommend KMPlayer. (Download free from CNET).
If you are using Windows Media Player, it won't play some video formats correctly.
Hope this will help you, and thanks for using FixYa!

I have windows XP and can't upload photos from my Fuji Finepix J10 on my camera it just says USB.

In order to download photos to your PC or laptop, you have to install the drivers for your camera. Please follow these steps.

1- Use the CD which came with your camera and install the drivers. If you do not have your CD, go to fuji website and download it.

http://www.fujifilm.com/products/digital/download/01/index.html

2- After installing the drivers, connect your camera to your computer and on the dial select play and turn the camera on.

3- If the drivers are installed correctely, when you click start, computer you would see an icon with all or part of Fuji FinePix J10 Digital. Double click on this icon. You would see one or more folders which contain the stored pictures or videos. Now you are able to download, copy delete the stored pictures in your camera.

Video downloads, but no picture, just sound

Your computer cannot decode MPEG-4 video format. Try to play it in Windows Media Player (this should find and install required codec automatically if connected to internet) or install Kodak Easyshare Software CD (supplied with camera) - should install required video codecs too. You can try to download and install codecs on your own from here.

Cant hear my sound on my laptop

You have just about answered your own problem. If you can hear sound on other computers and also on TV, then the camera is sending out sound. You should be downloading the video to your laptop with a USB cable. Make sure that you use the same cable on your laptop that you used to download on other computers. In the worst case you could get a card reader with USB and remove your memory chip from the camera and load it into the Card reader. That should solve the sound loss. I have also seen a laptop that would make sound when windows opened up but would not play a music CD. You might want to test your laptop with a music cd before you buy anything!
