Setup of bridge mono mode:-1-turn your amplifier off.2-connect input wiring to channel(1) input--3-connect speaker across positive outputs terminals-do not use negative terminal when amplifier is operating in bridge mono mode.4-turn down (fully counter clockwise)of channel (2).

I am trying to bridge two macrotechs 1200 and I am getting a loud huming noise . No sound. Just that noise. When I run them in stereo mode they work perfectly fine. What causes that?

Let's review the setup procedure and precautions. This is for bridging the amplifiers within a single box.
  • The mono-stereo-bridge switch must be in bridge position
  • The input signal must be connected only to Channel 1. NOTHING should be connected to Channel 2.
  • The Channel 2 level control should be turned all the way down. Turning it up will amplify common-mode noise.
  • The + speaker terminal is connected to the red binding post for Channel 1 and the - speaker terminal is connected to the red binding post for Channel 2. Neither side of the load should be grounded.
  • There are no connections to the black binding posts. They should not be grounded or shorted together.
It does not seem practical to bridge or parallel two MT 1200 boxes; it would be very difficult to get the levels and offsets precisely matched. If they aren't matched, you will get oscillations or common-mode amplification - that is your humming noise. The bridging switch makes six changes to the circuitry to get the amplifiers properly interconnected in one box so this won't happen in the recommended configuration.

PYLE PT2001X 3300 Watt Professional DJ Power.just had question about running this amp in bridged mode 4 ohms, here's some amp info 3300 watts total power bridged in 1 ch only.1650 each ch in stereo mode...

Hi,

In bridge mode the minimum load will be 8 Ohm.
If you are using 4 Ohm speakers, it will mean you will give each side of the amplifier a 2 Ohm load.
Thats to much for this model.

Kind regards,
Gerard

Can you bridge an adcom GFA-5802 power amp?

Running an amp in bridge mode requires a specific circuit design. It is not possible to combine 2 amps in this fashion.

How do i hook two dj amps together

Hi

If you have speakers that are rated to handle at least 600wrms, then I would run each amp in bridge mode, with left going to one and right to the other. If you have 2 pairs of speakers, then you may have to invest in some Y splitter cables or adapters to send right and left to each amp running in stereo.

check out the different configurations you can do in the instruction manual here

The details of exactly the connectors/cables you will need to do this are also all in the manual. the only special thing you need if you go the 2 pair of speakers in a Y adapter. Most electronic hobby shops sell these. Happy to answer any questions you have about this.

Cheers

Hi monmax,
I hope you are aware that in bridged mode your amp will become monaural (single channel, double power). If you still wish to bridge it:
Switch of power.
Set mode switch behind amp to "bridge" position.
Connect speaker positive to CH1+ve terminal of amp output and connect speaker negative to CH2 +ve terminal.
Be aware that now, in bridged mode your amps output power delivery is 1100 watts for a 4 ohm speaker and 900 watts for an 8 ohm speaker. Make sure your speaker can handle that.
Peace
Jango.

Bridging

If you build a small circuit like the Bridging Adapter For Power Amplifiers it's quite easy to do. Some more info on bridging can be found over here
