The microphone may not work because of a hardware or configuration problem. To determine if it's a hardware problem, test the microphone in Sound Recorder.

  1. Click "Start," > "Programs" ("All Programs" for Windows XP) > "Accessories" > "Entertainment" > "Sound Recorder."
  2. Click the Record button and speak into the microphone of the camera. You should see the green line move, indicating the application is picking up sound.
  3. Click the Stop button.
  4. Click the Play button. If there is no sound at playback, check to make sure the correct device is selected.
    1. Click "Edit," then "Audio Properties."
    2. Make sure Logitech is listed as the Preferred device for "Sound recording."
The microphone may also be defective. To test this, try the camera on another USB enabled system.
If you can record sound in Sound Recorder, but not in the QuickCam application, try setting the Logitech Microphone as the Preferred device in Audio Properties.
Multimedia Keyboards:
A multimedia keyboard is a keyboard that has a button which can automatically control your computer volume. If you have a multimedia keyboard installed, the software for the multimedia keyboard may need to be uninstalled in order for the camera's microphone to work properly in Windows. Please contact Logitech with the make and model of the multimedia keyboard that is causing the problem. While we will not be able to assist you other than to advise to uninstall the keyboard software, it will help us determine the root cause of the incompatibility.

My microphone isent working on my laptop i plug a mic in and nuthen can be picked up

Using a microphone with computer

To use any microphone with your computer you will need to enable it in control panel. The following instructions are for Windows XP but are broadly similar for Vista and Win7

Click START, CONTROL PANEL, SOUNDS & AUDIO DEVICES

Click VOICE

In Sounds & Audio Devices Properties window locate SOUND PLAYBACK box. Click the VOLUME button. Make sure that there is not a check-mark in the MUTE box against microphone in the list of devices and that the volume slider is at the top of the scale.

Make sure the MUTE ALL box isn't checked before closing the window.

Now click the VOLUME button in the SOUND RECORDING BOX. Here SELECT microphone as an input source for recording (as opposed to un-checking mute in the playback controls).

NOTE if your microphone is not listed in the 2 sets of volume controls click OPTIONS, PROPERTIES on the tool-bar and place a check against microphone in the list entitled 'show the following volume controls' and then click OK. Same applies for Internal mic.

That should be it.

To adjust audio volume generally.

Under VOLUME tab adjust Device Volume as necessary. Also (under Loudpeaker Settings) click Speaker Volume and adjust slider to suit.

You might put a check mark in the box to show the volume control on the Task Bar so you can go straight to it to make adjustments in the future.

How do i get rid of feedbacks when i use my E6i Earset, am raning it through an AKG PT2000

Feedback is caused when a microphone's volume is returned out of the speakers, and then picked up again by the microphone causing a loop. The sound is amplified, picked up by the mic ,and then reamplified causing the feedback.
The first step is to make sure you are an adequate distance from the speakers. Also make sure the speakers are not behind you, but in front of you again allowing more distance and keeping the feedback down.
The most logical thing is turn the mic down to a lower level. Countrymans are very sensitive so adjusting the volume in small amounts will work too.
If all else fails, you may need to add an equalizer to your system if you do not have one. This will allow you to adjust out the frequencies that ring the most. The more sliders on an equalizer, the more adjustment you have. If you do have one already ,start from flat (all sliders straight across in the middle) and gradually inch up each slider individually until you hear the feedback ringing in the frequency it did before. You then slide the slider down below the middle to give you more volume before feedback. Don't go crazy here, and adjust only a few sliders down as needed. You will start losing overall volume in your sound system if too many are adjusted down.
Good Luck

When i skype with my granddaughter, i can hear her, but she cant hear me

It must be with your mic or with your computer's sound settings or with your skype sound settings. First check your Microphone, you can record something using the Windows (if your o.s. is windows xp or vista, or etc..etc..) built-in Sound Recorder.

Open your computer's sound settings and make sure it's default recording device is Microphone and the volume is turned up.

Open the skype, click "Tools", then "Options" and again click" "Audio Settings" and check the mic volume, if possible uncheck the "Automatically adjust the microphone settings" and turn the slider to the right. Save the changes you've made and try again.

If the problem persists, let me know.

Good luck.

Thanks for using FixYa.

Tried to use mic, only picking up computer sounds.

Ensure that you have selected the Microphone or the Line-in as your recording input. It sounds like you have set STEREO MIX as the recording input. Double click your speaker, select from the drop down "Properties" then Adjust volume for (RECORDING) select that and ensure that your appropriate recording device is selected. (XP)
