Your i-mate™ JAMA 101 can be configured to act as a modem for your PC, allowing you to have a connection to the internet for your PC while you are out of the office or away from home. Your PC can be connected to your i-mate using Bluetooth® or a USB cable. Although setting the device up for Internet sharing the first time may take some minutes, you only need to do these actions once per PC. Subsequent connections are quick and are explained at the end of each configuration. Before you start, you must ensure ActiveSync 4.2 or later version is installed on your PC. You can find this program on the Getting Started CD that came with your device. You cannot run this function with earlier versions of ActiveSync. These instructions show how to set up your PC for connection over GPRS, please contact the customer support team if you wish to connect over a circuit switched connection. If you are running Windows Vista on your computer, you do not need to install Activesync.
thanks for using fixya!!! Your device is equipped with powerful networking functions that enable you to connect to the Internet through a General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) network. GPRS is a service that allows information to be sent and received across a mobile telephone network. Your device is able to configure itself for data services for many of the major GSM/GPRS operators across the world. Simply insert your SIM card and switch on your device. When the device powers on it will prompt for the configuration steps and configure itself for Web, MMS, and WAP services. If the settings are not known for your operator, the device will notify you and you will need to enter these manually. You should contact your Network Service Provider.
reset the phone.. master reset.. on start up, it will ask a long message with "ACCEPT" and "REJECT" as choices. In that if u click "REJECT", it will install the interface in English. If you choose "ACCEPT", it will install in Arabic. --Vidya, India--
I do not how to set this specifically for JAMA. But I have succesfully set it up (both airtel live and airtel mobile office) for JAQ3 as well as a lower end one (i don't remember the model).
For mobile office, you basically need to set up a new modem connection (look at your connections screen from settings). Give a name to the connection (for ex., "airtelmo")
Select "Cellular line (GPRS)" as the modem and then give the access point "airtelgprs.com". Then leave the username, password, domain etc blank and finish. Then launch internet explorer and it should be able to connect and proceed
For airtel live or airtel online, AIRTEL people would say they don't support it on imate, but it only means that they don't know what they are talking about. The only additional thing that you need to do for these is setting up proxy server settings. Also, for airtel live, the access point name should be "airtelfun.com"
Now, depending on your phone, you may need to set up your airtel live access point within the work network rather than ISP, because that is the one for which i mate supports proxy. The proxy server setting is 22.214.171.124:8080 (this is an HTTP proxy). This should be able to get you on to internet on your imate.
The i-mate pda2k is not a 3g phone! its only a 2g phone. But you can connect to the internet by using your wireless lan and GPRS.To connect to your computer, go to your phone settings menu then select "connect phone as modem",this will give you the option of connecting through GPRS or otherwise. You must have your settings set up properly to use this feature.
u need to get gprs serv active from spice first..... call their cc to get service settings.. actually in start>settings>connections>connections.. u need to setup a connection that uses a modem cellular line (gprs)... that will do for u.. rest settings will be provided by spice,, like access point name,, ip addresses..
