The wipers do not work until a fuse is inserted in which on a 20 amp (correct amp rating) the fuse blow immediately, on a 25 amp fuse they run on full constantly for about a minute then fuse blows. this is in a 1994 ford probe gt with a 2.5l V6
Bottom line is that you have a short to ground in the wiper circuit
these are some of the toughest to repair
first thing you want to do is follow ALL the wires from the wiper motor and switch
inspect for anything that looks like it has been rubbed raw!
there are some tools I have that you can buy at most pro-shops, most are called short-finders
they work by applying a small current on the suspected circuit and then use a "finder" to indicate where the short is located
another old school method is to install a bigger fuse and follow the smoke! not a good choice on anything since 1980
