Hiya one day recently I switched on my lovely silver Technics DZ 1200 CD turntable, only to find it was NOT WORKING! Basically the platter just spins and spins, and the digital readout is lit up blue, but blank.
It makes a little clicking noise as it goes around its cycle as well.
It's still got a CD in it, I think, but traditional means won't get it out.
Any help much appreciated. i loved that little silver bugger!

Sounds like something shorted out. Possible an IC (integrated circuit) or resistor. Unfortunately, not easy to diagnose. You'll have to take it to an authorized service center for repair.

i was djing at a night club and there was a little bit of crown and coke spilled on the top of it. i cleaned it off and it worked fine, i thought it was no big deal and then the next night when i started to warm up i noticed that it would play fine but the turntable has a lag on it when you move it like as if the top white part with the three holes in it to lock it when you recive it in shiping was sticking to the bottom part. as if it needed some wd-40. would cilicone spay help??

Hi, I've just bought a used Technics HD81 system and i'm running my tv through it, it worked perfect for around 30 mins and then just threw a wobbley. the system changed to CD on its own and then kept skipping through the cd's, flicking random selection on and off, same with repeat and randomly played songs without me touching anything, the system was then jammed on the CD selection (it wouldn't change to radio aux or tape) but i couldn't open the CD tray, no matter what button i hit it just kept switching the random play on and off- even if i push a buton on the tape deck. Have you any idea whats wrong with it please. Regards Brian

It will spin the circular bed that holds all 5 CDs, then randomly stop to begin a CD, but before it actually starts a track, it stops and again starts spinning the circular bed to repeat this entire process, never to play a track. It doesn't seem to matter which buttons I touch, the player has a mind of its own and eventually after many frustrating minutes will stop and begin playing an entire CD.
