Bought a Packard Bell Onetwo L5851 yesterday. Unable to switch it on....Blank screen with a few lights below, thats it . Nothing responding.

I have a similar problem with a Packard Bell OneTwo S PG4G1TU01 : when switching it on, it work a few minutes and suddenly shutdown, as a brutal power down. But the green light at the bottom still working. I have changed the extern power supply and now it work fine... The new power supply is a 90W model, not a 65W like the original one. Maybe it can help ?

My Kensington 90W power adapter will not charge my computer. It beeps when I plug in it and the battery does not charge.

Vscott481,

Im not sure what type of computer you have, but with the laptops I have had in the past, this is usually an indication that the battery has malfunctioned and will need to be replaced, the internal charging circuit and management system is no longer functional, or the contacts are dirty and the battery simply isnt able to charge becuase of it.

I do need some clarification...
A) Is the computer able to power up and run off of AC?
B) Does the battery have any charge at all, or does the PC list it as 0% or 100% (if the system boots)
C) If you are able to boot, and your battery is not depleted but will not charge, you shoudl follow proper battery maintenance guidlines, which includes cleaning the battery contacts that connect your cells to the laptop. Battery power is transferred through the contacts and keeping them clean allows for a more efficient transfer of power. The best way to do this is with rubbing alcohol and cotton swabs.

If this does not seem to solve a problem, you can take the system to a qualified professional and they can try and find if there are shorts in the sytem with an electrical tester.

I hope this helped,
Jem

TIP MELTED

I know it's kinda lame, but you might be able to get something from Radio Shack. Something else to try is to look at a universal power supply. Some have interchangeable connectors and one might work. By the way, I saw in a store this weekend there are "generic" laptop power supplies that come with several different tips as well.

I bought a targus ac adapter, it worked the first time I charged my Dell 5100 Notebook computor, now a message comes up saying it doesn't recognize the ac adaptor, how can I fix this?

AC adaptor may not be correct. Check label on AC adaptor with label on notebook for voltage (e.g. 19.5V or 20V) and current (e.g. ??A or 90W)

Voltage must be same and current must be same or higher on ac adaptor.

I need a power tip for the kensington power adapter for my new dell xps M1730.. I contacted Kensington and they are not much help...

In the same boat. I've contacted Dell and gave him a good talking too. They sell the Kensington, advertised as compatible with XPS when it's not. It's false advertising and should refund you.
