Many things can cause that... I'll tell you which things you may have done wrong --->

1.You turned it off while installing an update. Solution: Format it
2.A part of your hard-disk's boot has a bad sector. Solution: Download HDD Regenerator and check your disc for bad sectors (if there are bad sectors, you should back up your files and then buy a new hard disk)
3.There's a problem with your Windows 7 booting files. Solution: Recover Windows 7 from their CD
4.Your PC is affected by a rootkit (a type of malware that loads before Windows). Solution: Format it

Hope this helps :)

Hi all , My HP laptop auto shuts down when i open microsoft words , why is this so ? can somebody pls help me ? I need todo some work on it urgently!! , Thanks !!

You will need to press the F8 key before windows starts to load then disable
the auto restart on error. That will allow you to read the error message and
someone may be able to guide you.
You could also try booting from the XP CD and run the recovery console (if
that's an option) once in the recovery console type chkdsk /r to correct any
errors & try booting again.

Disable automatic restart on system failure. This should help by
allowing time to write down the STOP code properly. Right click on
the My Computer icon on the Desktop and select Properties, Advanced,
Start-Up and Recovery, System Failure and uncheck box before
Automatically Restart.

Do not re-enable automatic restart on system failure until you have
resolved the problem. Check for variants of the Stop Error message.

An alternative is to keep pressing the F8 key during Start-Up and select
option - Disable automatic restart on system failure.

If you are using a wireless keyboard and the F8 key does not work
substitute a wired keyboard and mouse for this exercise only.

Please prost your feedback.

Kidpix4 doesn't work in Windows 7, even in compatibility mode. Is there a fix?

If you have Win7 Pro or Ultimate, you could download and install the XP mode from Microsoft. This creates a virtual XP computer inside of your computer. Then you can install the program on the virtual computer and use it there.

The web site doesn not indicate any updates for Win Vista or Win7.

I hope this helps.

Deleting emails, documents and receiving error messages

I have a suggestion.
backup the data, formate the disk.
load linux( PCLinuxos or Ubuntu) and make it dual boot, after that install windows XP, might your friend have some CD of that(I have done the same).
XP is good operating system and very simple to use. Also you can always have backup disk of your old vista.
Say bye bye to Dell.

Have you tried to boot into Safe Mode? if you can do so successfully, you'll have a good chance of being able to undo some of the damage. Did you create a system restore point before the install?
