Question about Nikon Coolpix L1 Digital Camera

Battery door A small part at the corner of the battery door is broken. The door doesn't close well. I think it's necessary to replace the door. It seems no so difficult to do. The problem is where can I find the new door at a reasonable price (I paide the camera $ 200 20 months ago). Thanks Onofrio

I've had the Coolpix L1 for a good 2 years before silly me forced the battery door to close whilst not totally in place causing the "tooth"that holds the door in place to crack.

Unfortunately, these doors are made of cheap plastic and i think it eventually happens to all these types of cameras, I've looked at ebay, and no one is selling the door from what I can see.

A corner on my Coolpix L1 battery door is broken. Now it doesn't latch right and opens frequently while being stowed in my pocket. Any idea where I can find a replacement battery cover? Thanks

My canon ixus cannot switch on

Make sure the battery is charged. Check the battery door switch and that the battery door fits tightly. You can see the door switch through a cutout in the door frame. It is very small. You can usually bypass it if it is broken. First you have to figure out if it is always on or always off when the door is open. If it is always on then just remove the switch. If it is always off (and turns on when the door is closed) then solder a wire to connect the switch's contacts so that the camera thinks the door is closed.

Note: this solution requires precision soldering and experience

Other possible causes: blown fuse (usually found near the DC in plug), main circuit failure

Use electrical tape for holding the door or you need to visit service center for replacing the complete door.

The battery door catch has broken

On most cameras you can hold the catch closed with an elastic band around the body of the camera, if necessary with a small square of cardboard over the hatch itself, or several bands, if the hatch actually holds the batteries in place. At least you will be able to use the camera, even if it does look a bit untidy!

Problem started with battery door

The door has an interlock on it. You probably broke the door. The door on some of these cameras can be replaced from the outside. You must make sure the interlock switch is not broken as well. The tabs on the housing of the camera can get bent or snapped off if enough force is used.
A broken door will be $75 there abouts, installed.
A broken detect switch, adds about $45 (A board).
A broken case may set you back an additional $75

No power - it won't power on, battery is fully charged

Things to check first are battery contact points, and micro switches that are located on the battery and memory card doors. Details on what needs to be checked may be seen here. It won't work for every case, but it's worth a try.

Battery door no longer locks to stay closed. olympus camedia c-720

You either find a replacement door or simply use a small amount of sticky tag to both corners of the door frame where the card door closes on to. Don't put too much, just enough to hold it shut after pressing down slightly. No adhesive tapes, as they give a messy look and need to be replaced quite often.
Hope this experience of mine can help.

Battery compartment door won't close

Look on Ebay. Battery doors for most cameras sell for from $10.00 to less than $20.00 with shipping.
It sounds like the metal is oversprung as you mentioned. The way to fix that would be to remove the door by carefully using a small screwdriver (either phillips or flat, depending on the model) ... some cameras have screws which hold the door together with some small parts including springs, others can be removed by carefully prying the metal holders away to allow the door cover to slide off. When that is done, then you should be able to see the problem with the bent metal, if that is what it is, and proceed to level out the bent areas by bending to the way which is necessary.

Battery door broken

You're making it harder than it has to be. Simply hold the camera in your left hand, and open the battery door so it is standing up. Look closely at the lower left corner of the batterry door. Notice the notch shape. The door plastic door is locked in place by the mating little "L" shape on the hinged door of your camera. Thats all that keeps it from sliding off when you put in batteries. Simply insert a small screwdriver or knife blade in that slot, twist it counterclockwise to push the battery door lock to the left, and slide the door off with no force at all. It's a snap.

Not turning on

Hello Ariel, You need a new battery lid. The problem is the lid has a pin that when closed properly, allows the battery to power up the camera. You can get one for $30.00 on Ebay item number 7623965577 if you act fast. This is a good camera and would be worth $30.00 (plus 5.50 shipping) to fix it. Please let me know how it works. Best regards, nightdiver
