Question about Dell Latitude D620 Notebook

Audio and Video (Windows Media, Real Player, and player software) freezes up

Thanks for the continued feedback.

Question. It seems that this problem started occuring when I connected my new Wireless Router (connected for my work-provided Dell Latitude D620 and our Dell Dimension 8400 Intel(R) Desktop Computer.

Specs of the Belkin Router...

http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Product_Id=372043

I'm using [what is described as a "recent standards-based" security connection technique] the WPA-PSK security mode/authentication (with a TKIP encryption technique).

My previous router was a [traditional] "wireless g" connection, although my new "wireless n" router claims to be backwards compatible (802.11g/b). Not sure if the "n" technology is causing this issue with my audio/video streams pausing/freezing (I bring this up because I thought the problem was limited to my laptop, but then my wife played some video on YouTube (using our desktop CPU) and it experienced the same, sudden "freeze" about 30 seconds into the video.

Hopefully this sheds some additional light on the situation and a solution accordingly (btw, my Adobe Flash Player, etc. is updated).

Thanks again.

    I'm getting 1.03megabits per second...so that's pretty good.

  • malarch Apr 05, 2008

This problem has to be isolated to my Belkin router. Current speed is (as of 30 seconds ago) is 991.32 kbs (usually as high as 1.3 mbs). I was just at Starbucks logged into t-mobile hot spot. Never a problem with any streaming audio (eg ESPNRadio1000.com) or video (eg YouTube.com). The same with my connection at work. It's only when running video or audio streams through my homeinternet connection (running through Belkin N wireless router) that the problem with audio / video inadvertently locking up/freezing up.

I had a Belkin tech help me update Firmware on my router...it acutally seemed to help for a few days...but then right back to the freeze up.

Who has the skillz to solve this one...I would be thoroughly grateful for a solution!!

    Thanks.

My Acer Aspire 5735z has no sound on dvds in Real

Hi,
use the driver cd which came along with your laptop and reinstall the audio driver from it. After that reinstall the real player as well if needed.

After that everything should work fine.
I hope this is helpful to you.
Thanks

REQUIRED VIDEO DRIVER SOFTWARE FOR ABOVE LAPTOP . 1. NO VIDEO WHILE PLAYING DVD ON WINDOW MEDIA ONLY AUDIO. 2. IN POWER DVD OR VLC MEDIA PLAYER, VIDEO AND AUDIO IS IS NOT PLAYING SMOOTHLY AS NORMAL BUT...

1. It seems to be codec problem . Download K-Lite Mega Pack and install it. Then try playing the movie in windows media player classic that comes with k lite mega codec pack.
2. check your system for trojan , virus or any program that is using system resources. Often Video problems are caused by insufficient resources available by video/audio decoders.
3. System stand by could be missing because your bios settings dont allow it. Enter the BIOS and reset settings to default.

My dvd player will show the video but there's no sound

Still haven't solved the dvd audio issue but it DOES play flawlessly on WinDVD. It still won't play on Real Player OR on Windows Media Player. So I'll just have to lay dvd's on WinDVD.

Shaky sound and video

To solve this:

1- Check if you have more than 1 DVD player program installed. If yes, uninstall any you don't use (being careful not to uninstall the one you use or that's needed for the recording part of what you do)
2- Check if you have more than 1 Media player software like VLC media player, Microsoft Media player (automatically installed) etc.

Because it also affects video played saved on your computer (assuming AVI or video you play using Windows Media Player or another player) and DVD playback, its usually a program that is conflicting with another of the same type (plays media Audio/Video). If the above solution did not work, try performing the "system restore" and choose a date of when you definitely remember it working without chatter. If this is not an option, proceed below.

If your computer has been performing regular updates and you happen to be using a new Windows Media player, do you remember if it happened during a computer software update? If yes, the fault lies with Windows Media player having performed an upgrade to itself. You may want to "demote" media player by going to Control Panel and "add or remove programs" list (making sure "show updates" is checked) and scroll down until you see Windows Media player. Then uninstall the latest update it has performed.

If you installed another media player/DVD player program(s) and it coincides with your problems, uninstall it. Multiple DVD/Media players have their own settings, file changes/updates and they can affect one another if installed simultaneously on 1 system.

Let us know how it goes and rate us. :)
