Question about LG Televison & Video
My LG 42 inch HD LCD (42LB9F) pictulates whenever I turn on another TV in the house (3 other TV's, 2 X CRT's and 1 X re-projection) the Antenna isn't amplified and the LCD losses single if any one of the TV's are in operation. LG Tech Support have said they have had report problems like this in multi dwelling and Multi TV situations and recommend the installation of a 10-12 dB attenuator on the LCD coaxial. I'm 35km from the transmittor and I not sure annenuating the signal is best, also the other TV's have good analouge pictures.
regards Andrew H
Try what they suggested. The attenuator may block some signal that is causing the difficulty with your set. And it is installed on only the line going to your set and not the main line coming into the house.

Is the picture overall too small by 1 in. on top and bottom? Or is it cut off by the lines?
If it's too small, look for an adjustment labeled Vertical Height. This may only be accessible internally, it's normally a service adjustment, not a user adjustment.
Your problem is a vertical deflection issue, either an adjustment or the vertical circuit requires repair by a technician. In the latter case, electrolytic capacitors are a likely cause.

It looks like the convergency ICs failed on your TV. The IC numbers are STK 392-040, they are mounted on a big heatsink.
This may not be a DIY project, so I would suggest to take the TV to a repair shop.

You have 2 distinct problems that should be addressed separately. Please repost the Samsung problem. I will address the Sony problem here.
If the "shadow" makes the picture seem somewhat of a 3D one, the problem is with the convergence circuit. This could be as simple as bad connections on the pins of the convergence ICs or defective ICs. If you can solder and would like to attempt the repair, update this and I'll provide more details and instructions.
