Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

Factory reset my lenovo y510 when forgotwindows password

If its running Windows 8 the login might be linked to a microsoft account. from another computer login or reset your password to that account and try logging back into the laptop (as long as it has an active internet connection) If its windows 7 or older you might need to find a Live repair disk (ERD or Hiron's boot cd or something along those lines that has a password recovery tool incorperated)

Worst case you would need the windows installation disk or restore disks that came with the laptop

How do I get my off line password to sign in

The message of "offline" basically tells you that the network on your computer may be either disabled or disconnected. Since Windows 8 integrates Microsoft Account, it works best when it's connected to the internet all the time. Check and make sure the Wi-Fi is on, or physically plugin a network wire to ensure that the machine you are dealing with in deed is connected.

Reset Your Microsoft Account Password web page, and follow the steps there to reset your account's password and to re-enable the account.

Once done, you should be able to get into your Windows 8 machine again.

How can we password protect this router? Linkysy wrt54 Thank you!

This will be a bit lengthy, as we'll need to find out some information first.

On a computer that's connected to the network, it can be wired or wireless:

WINDOWS
1. Open your Start menu.
2. If it's Windows 7 or Vista, simply type in cmd and hit [Enter]. If it's Windows XP, click Run, then type cmd and hit [Enter].
3. Type ipconfig and hit [Enter].
4. Find the line that says "Default Gateway:" near the top. Write down that number.

MACINTOSH
1. Click anywhere on the desktop.
2. In the bar at the top of your screen, click Go, and choose Applications.
3. Select Utilities.
4. Open Terminal.
5. Type ipconfig and hit [Enter].
6. Find the line that says "Default Gateway:" near the top. Write down that number.

Now it's the same regardless of operating system.
  1. Open any browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, etc.)
  2. In the address bar, type in ONLY the number you wrote down above. There should be no "www."
  3. If it asks for user name and password, the default is Username: admin ' Password: admin
  4. Click on the Wireless tab on top.
  5. Under that, click on the Wireless Security tab.
  6. Set Security Mode to WPA2 if possible (it may say WPA2-Personal). Otherwise, use WPA.
  7. Set your passphrase, and click Save Settings at the bottom of the page.
You now have your password! On all computers connected wirelessly, you'll have to tell them to connect to the network again and enter the password. It will save the password after the first time so you don't have to do it again.

If you ever lose this password, there is a tiny red button on the back of the router. Hold that in with a pen and it will completely reset the router, wiping out all settings including password.

Not able to go online

have you been online with this computer before?
or
Are you setting up for the first time?

Once you have an Internet Service Provider ,ISP,
you just need a modem and phone line access,
plug modem into phone socket and then into the computer,

My example modem is.........

Speed Touch 5x6v6 - Broadband Modem

log on to the modem using Internet Explorer Bar
Type 192.168.254
this will open the modems log on menu
then enter user name and password
its factory default is
user ADMIN
password ADMIN or 1234

once open there are some menu options on the main page

Speed Touch,
Broadband Connection,
Toolbox,
Home Network,

to add new user and password,
go to toolbox,
user management,
add new user
add password,(write down username and password)
change default user
save and test
should have a green tick next to new default user now

selecting broadband ... shows both your,
dsl connection and internet connection status,
with a green tick next to each heading.

Home network will show you...
all devices connected to this modems network ie
the other computers and printers etc,
connected on your network.
In network ,select your computer in the menu tree,
select configure
this give you a menu to add info about your computer
ie name info, comupters ip address,
access to the local intranet or the internet

Now lets connect to the internet

select Broadband from fornt page
menu will open and display
DSL & Internet Connections
here we test functionality.on? or off?

Now we go to your computer,
start my network connection
run wizard in my network places
select new connection
follow prompts to the end.

open internet explorer
if web page opens then we are done and finished,
open tools and internet options,
connections and then lan settings
select automatically detect
Apply then close
Test webpage again,
when ok shut down and restart,
to save the computers new settings ,
Test again with internet explorrer.

if no connections run wizard again,

Hope this Helps,Cheers Misterdj

Can not get internet connection with my new netgear wireless router model dgn2000

Configure DGN2000 using the steps below:

1. Connect the cable/phone line coming from Internet Service Provider to the WAN port of the router(isolated port).
2. Connect the computer to the router using any one of the 4 available ports.
3. Open the browser (Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox or Safari).
4. Access the router usually by typing 'http://192.168.0.1' or 'http://www.routerlogin.com' in the address bar.
5. Login to the router (username = admin password = password unless you have changed it).
6. Click 'setup wizard'(at the top of list) from left menu.
7. Select yes and click next.
8. It should give you a "PPPoA Detected" and then click next.
9. Enter the login and password of ISP click apply.
10. Once the settings are updated click on 'router Status' and click on 'connection status' button(at the bottom of the page).
11. Click on connect button.
12. Connecting to server should show 'connected'.
13. If you receive 'CHAP authentication failed', close the 'connection status' window and click on 'Basic settings'. Check the login and password for ISP and apply the setting again.
14. Open up another browser window and try to access internet.

How to install raspppoe connection in vista

Hi,

The trick with XP also woks eith VISTA too.
Try the following in vista, you will succeed.

If you're using a RAS / PPPOE connection for Internet, and wish to automatically connect to your ISP at startup, you may use Rasdial utility which is built-in.

Usage: Open a Command Prompt window and type:

Rasdial <connectoid> "username" "password"

This would initiate a dial-up/PPPoE connection to your ISP.
You can create a batch file with the above parameters and place it in your Startup folder, so that vista dials to your ISP automatically at every startup.
If you don't prefer to enter the password in the batch file, use the following command-line (vista will prompt you for a password - secure)

Rasdial <connectoid> "username" *

NOTE: Type Rasdial.exe /? in the Command Prompt to learn more about this command, it's other parameters.

Hope my info helps you,
Thanx for using fixya,
Cheers.

Need help

In order to log in to the router you will have to type in the address bar of an open internet explorer window "192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1" the actual number will depend on your gateway. If you have a computer that is wired to the router..click start-highlight "connect to"- click on show all connections. Right click on local area connection and then click on status. Click on support tab at the top of new window, one line should say default gateway...that is the number you need to type in the address bar to access your router. That should open a new window prompting for username and password. For most manufactures both will be admin. For some username is admin and password is the word password. Hopefully this helps.

Good Luck
