Unable to switch off projector with remote (Infocus SP4805)
I am unable to power off my Infocus projector SP4805 with its remote
control all of a sudden (So, I have to power-off with switch on the Projector
unit). The remote control IR red signal blinks when push the buttons and buttons
backlits ok (I have replaced remote control batteries). Not sure what to do!. Please help.
(Projector is 2 years
old, not used too often, couple of DVD
movies a month. Just to note since a year ago
some time notice a slight gray area in the centre of the screen
(wall) projection and heard it is common issue and has not been problem as it
not very noticeable.) Appreciate if you could help.

A bit unusual for the projector to stop responding to the remote.
Usually it follows when someone has opened the projector, they forgot
to reconnect the controls from the case top which also includes the IR
receiver. If it isn't that, it could be a broken IR pc board or
bad connection. I've seen that.
The worst case is that the IR controller on the main board has failed
and if that's the case, you'll have to live with it as the cost of a
new board is very high.

When the control panel lock ON of the projector so that the projector can be operated only with the REMOTE CONTROL.
If you loos your remote control then keeping the POWER key on the projector control panel pressed for 10 seconds turns the projector ON when it is in standby mode, and turns the projector to standby mode when the power is on. If you press and hold the MENU key for about10 second when the power is on the lock will be released and "panel key lock" is automatically set to "OFF"
remove the rear panel, front panel, and top. the colorwheel is between the lens and the lamp. removing it is easy, but to unplug it, you need to remove the 2 power boards, the shield, and the fan/lamp housing assembly. there is a tip on this site with a detailed description on replacing it. it's under infocus x2. the x2 and the sp4805 are basically the same machine.
The buzzing noise is a broken colourwheel and the shadow could be a part of the colourwheel that is obstructing the light engine or it could be your packlight pipe ( tunnel with 4 tiny mirrors in it ) that was damaged when the colourwheel broke.
I do unfortunately not have the part numbers of the parts that I mentioned , but you could assist by opening up the unit and supplying me with the part numbers.
The colourwheel you will spot straight away once you've taken off the top cover of the Projector , the packlight pipe is situated right next to it - looks like a small tunnel that's got 4 mirrors inside it - takes the light into the light engine.
Once you've supplied me with these I can get you prices and places to order it from and will help you with instructins on how to replace them - it is quite easy to DIY.
we were unable to pull the projector menu & it also took about 2 hours for the bulb to turn on.......the fan works, have changed the bulb, closed the bulb door & tried to reset the projector.......help!
