CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X4 for PC (CDGSX4ENPC) Logo
Anonymous Posted on Mar 26, 2010

Corel started hanging a lot, and now all the fonts are missing (except 3). All the fonts still on Windows Font folder, so it is like CorelDraw doesn't pick it up.

  • Anonymous Mar 26, 2010

I uninstalled CorelDraw X4 and re-installed it again. Then I restarted my computer, but fonts still unavailable, except if I open a specific page. But as soon as I open a blank page, again only 3 fonts opens in Corel.

Also - when opening a new file, sometimes it don't want to open first time around (message: Corel Draw Resource Not Available). Second try it usually opens. Any idea what is happening?

  1. Hold down the F8 key on the keyboard.
  2. With the F8 key depressed, launch either CorelDRAW or PHOTO-PAINT
  3. The following message will appear:
Are you sure you want to overwrite the workspace with the factory defaults?
  4. Click Yes and release the F8 key.

Also try:
Temporary FilesTemporary files are used by applications to facilitate a number of functions, but are primarily used to swap information from RAM to the hard disk (and vice versa). Often when applications crash, these files are left in the Temp folder and must be removed manually. To delete temporary files, do the following:
  1. Click Start | Run
  2. Type the following and click OK: %temp%
  3. In the window that appears, click Edit | Select All
  4. With all objects selected, hit the delete key
NOTE: Certain files may not delete if applications which access those specific temporary files are open. If this occurs, simply reboot the computer and repeat the steps listed above, ensuring that all programs are closed.

How do I remove fonts from The Printshop 23.1?

Windows programs install fonts in the C:\Windows\Fonts folder. The fonts in that folder are accessible by all Windows programs - including Broderbund programs. However, older versions of Print Shop and PrintMaster are designed to use ONLY *.ttf fonts . So, the only fonts that those Broderbund programs can access in the C:\Windows\Fonts folder are *.ttf fonts.

NOTE: Since both Print Shop 2.0 & 3.0 and PrintMaster 2.0, 2011 and 2012 do not access fonts from Broderbund's Core Fonts folder, the following information does not apply to those versions of Print Shop and Printmaster.

Older versions of Print Shop and PrintMaster install fonts in the C:\Program Files\Common Files\Broderbund\Core Fonts folder. The fonts installed in that folder are accessible ONLY in Broderbund programs and are NOT accessible in other Windows programs.

Some newer versions of Print Shop and PrintMaster install shortcuts for some (but not all) Broderbund fonts in the C:\Windows\Fonts folder. When shortcuts for Broderbund fonts are installed in the C:\Windows\Fonts folder, those fonts will be accessible in all Windows programs.

For all other Broderbund fonts - which don't have a shortcut in the C:\Windows\Fonts folder - the most efficient way to use those fonts in other Windows programs would be to manually install those fonts in the C:\Windows\Fonts folder.

To install Broderbund fonts into the C:\Windows\Fonts folder, do this:

WinXP & WinVista:

1. Open the C:\Windows\Fonts folder (either by going to Control Panel then clicking on 'Fonts' or by opening Windows Explorer then selecting the C:\Windows\Fonts folder)

2. When the Fonts window opens, click on 'File' in the menubar then click on 'Install New Font' in the menu that drops down.

3. When the Add Fonts window opens, click in the box next to 'Copy fonts to Font folder' (to remove the checkmark).

NOTE: When the checkmark is removed from the box next to 'Copy fonts to Font folder', the end result will be one font file in the C:\Program Files\Common Files\Broderbund\Core Fonts folder and a shortcut to that font file in the C:\Windows\Fonts folder. If the checkmark is not removed, you will end up with two identical font files - one in the C:\Program Files\Common Files\Broderbund\Core Fonts folder and one in the C:\Windows\Fonts folder. Since it's not absolutely necessary to have font files in both folders, you can save some hard drive space by making sure that the checkmark is removed from the box next to 'Copy fonts to Font folder'.

4. Using the Folders: box on the bottom left side of the Add Fonts window, navigate to the C:\Program Files\Common Files\Broderbund\Core Fonts folder. Then, double-click on the Core Fonts folder.

6. After the font names are displayed, click on the name of the font you want to install, then click on OK. After the font is installed, it should appear in the fonts lists for all of your installed software.

If you don't mind having two identical font files on your hard drive, you can install Broderbund fonts by simply copying the font file from the C:\Program Files\Common Files\Broderbund\Core Fonts folder to the C:\Windows\Fonts folder.

Windows 7:

Either simply copy the font file to the C:\Windows\Fonts folder or right click on the font file then select 'Install' from the menu that drops down.

Win98 or WinME:

WARNING: If you are using Win98 or WinME, you will want to be sure to NOT have more than 750 fonts installed in the C:\Windows\Fonts folder - because more than 750 installed fonts on Win98 or WinME can cause a multitude of problems.
tip

Overcoming Font Overload in Windows

We all like to install fonts however when the number gets above 1,000 your PC will start to SLOOOW down loads this will also slow down programs that use system fonts like Adobe Photoshop so it's a good idea to keep the number of installed fonts below 400. If you do this you will find your system and programs will start faster and run much smoother.
Does this mean you have to give up all your favorite fonts? Not necessarily... There are a few things you can do to have the best of both worlds. The best way is to use a fontmanager there are a few here are some of the best

Corel DRAW X6 problems

Hi,
I presume you mean CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X6 and NOT technical Suite?
If nothing seems to work I would then do as follows.
1.Uninstall CorelDRAW X6 via Control Panel
2.After uninstalling X6 in the Control Panel - Go BACK to the Control Panel and uninstall "Corel Graphics - Windows Shell Extension".
3.Then go to Documents > Corel folder > Uninstall/Delete anything that says CorelDRAW X6
4.You can also go to C: > Program > Corel and delete anythign that says CorelDRAW X6
5.Repeat step 4, but choose folder called Programx86, and delete anything that says CorelDRAW X6
6.You should now have uninstalled everything that useally could disturb when you re-install from scratch.
7.NOW put in your DVD again with CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X6 - and INSTALL from Scratch.
8.You SHOULD now be able to run your CorelDRAW X6.
9.And NOW you should go online to www.corel.com and download and install Update/service pack and Hotfix for CorelADRAW Graphics Suite X6
10.It should in all normal situations work just fine on your PC with any Windows 7 version as well as any Windows 8 and 8.1 version.
11.Try to use a program to recover and view CDR files. For example, you can try this CDR Open File Tool http://www.cdr.openfiletool.com/
12.Also recommend to come to this forum. Many have useful information on the topic. http://www.filerepairforum.com/forum/cad-tools/cad-tools-aa/coreldraw/479-problems-with-cdr-files
Good luck and hope this helps!

Font won't unbold

Is this for a TTF True Type Font or some other font format?

Assuming you're running Windows, it all depends on which operating system you're running. Typically PCs use True Type Fonts (TTF files), which are installed and stored in the Fonts folder, which is a sub-folder of the Windows folder.

Some True Type Fonts are only available in Bold, Italic, Normal and Bold Italic. Some are also available in more or less variations. Some fonts are only available in Bold, some only in Italic, etc.

You may need to check if you have the Normal font installed, and it may be the font selected is only installed in the bold version. Another possibility is your Normal font file might be damaged or corrupted to where it's no longer recognized by your system.

You can check out the Fonts folder to see if the typeface you're trying to use is installed properly in the Normal style.

If not, select another font and see if that works for you. This would be a good indication that it's simply a matter of the Normal font variation not being installed properly.

Hope this helps!

I have used CorelDraw 8 for years, and the clipart worked fine, even with Windows XP, but I installed CorelDraw X4 and installed it. But after Installing CorelDraw X4, I could no longer is CorelDraw 8...

I had a similar problem with Coreldraw 8. I used it successfully for years and loved it on varoius version of Windows, currently XP. I installed Coreldraw 12 and still had Corel 8 on the computer.
Now the problem: Corel 8 and Corel 12 could not open the Corel 8 clipart disk #2, only just down to the folder level. When I right clicked on the Corel 8 disk #2 clipart folder and checked the Path Properties it gave me a path other than the correct clipart disk location (in my case it should have read E:) BUT it was some weird location like
MNfisherman referenced above and read: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\Corel.! What the?! I knew the path should have read E: to access the clipart since the clipart was on the disk and in my CD tray, so I uninstalled Corel 12 thinking that was the problem since 8 had worked fine, then checked the clipart CD again but still no luck.
I then uinstalled Corel 8, so now I had no Corel program on hard drive. I put the Corel 8 clipart disk #2 in the computer knowing it would not open the clips but just to see if I could get beyond the folder level to see if the clipart files were there and yes I could. (I could only read the names of the files at this point because no Corel on computer) So I only reinstalled Coreldraw 12 figuring the later version would open the older version clipart and Success! It worked. I think my problem had something to do with the Corel 8 MF indexer, but I'm not sure. I had a red semi circle (like the Corel Set Up Semi circle) on all of the clipart folders instead of the regular yellowish fold so thats why I think it had something to do with indexer or other type of setup conflict). Now all of my clipart folders appear normal being the regular yellowish color folder.
I suggest using a clean slate by unistalling all versions (Make sure you shut down the computer after each uninstall to get rid of all of the components of the program and then restart the computer) and then only reinstall the newest version. Hope this helps. Good Luck
