Audio Problems with AVR-2803

No sound from any source except tuner and only through Direct setting. Also there is no test tone when it is supposed to play during set-up. It's worked for 5 years.

Hmmmmm Sounds like one of 2 things....

1 Your DSP board is toast. ( not much hope, it must be sent to Denon as they do not have anymore entire circuit boards for swap-out replacement.

2. Heres the hope part......Inside your denon is like a computer.....there is a main board, separated by the big silver heatsink, and then there another main board. On the main board closest to the volume control, the DSP boards and Video boards plug into the main board . The DSP and video boards are up and down ( when the receiver is laying flat, like normally ), and they plug into the main board from the top.

Denon is NOTORIOUS for bad solder joints and the little white connectors that connect the "motherboard" to the DSP and Video boards are of suspect quality ( the rest of the unit is great )....So it COULD be that you have a bad solder joint on one of the connectors or the connector itself. There is also another set of connectors that joins the front panel display to this "motherboard".....these colder connections are also suspect.

I would have a denon repair shop look at it as I GUARANTEE they have seen this before.......best of luck...Rob

I can't seem to get the tuner to work on my Denon AVR 2803 receiver.

It can't hurt.

You will lose all your settings though. So you'll have to set the amp up again from scratch.

Before you do initialise, let's just check.... You plugged in a FM or AM aerial, right?

My denon receiver ( AVR-1508) will only produce sound on the direct and stereo setting

Some details are missing. What source(s)? Analog and/or digital? Test tones work ok? Have you looked at the manual and every control for possible mis-setting, say, EXT In or a Tape selected?

Extended power loss might lose memorized settings. Pretend the unit is brand new and verify all of them. No video from CD??? Really? Good luck with that.

Hi, just connected a Blu Ray player to my sytem. I connected the player via HDMI direct to the TV and the audio output direct into Optical 2 on the Denon. Problem is that there is no sound. Also...

We can't make assumptions about proper and complete setup if you don't explicitly mention the steps involved, so... did you assign and select the digital inputs properly?

BTW: I concur with your decision to send the video directly to the TV from the BD even though Denon and others expect it to make a hop through the receiver first.

Get into your BD and find its audio out setup. Make sure its settings for digital audio output bit rates, speaker presence, type, size, distance and bass-handling are set correctly.

Denon AVR 1910 - no sound from v-aux or tuner

The tuner is the best source for testing audio issues from a receiver since it uses an internal source for audio. This problem could be two separate issues. Check the tuning in the tuner to make sure it is on a station that you are receiving. The newer Denons will not play any audio is the station is not coming in. Be sure your antenna is connected and tune the station to one that comes in clear.
What source is hooked up to the V. Aux? If an iPod it is common that the volume on the ipod is down .

Denon AVR-2803 Zone 2 sound source

You have to switch your remote into Zone 2 Mode. It will be an option on your remote. Once you put it in that mode, you can change the source just as you would Zone one.

Intermittent Audio when set on "tuner"

You may have to ( first unplug it from the wall) then pull the top case.
Locate the tuner board , it will be the one with the antenna connections sticking out the rear of the rec'r.
If there's some way to pull the circuit board up and out of a socket/sockets , try that and re-install it.

Other than that I may be able to help you find a good tech.

Sound cuts out

This sounds to me as an issue not with your AVR but with your cable unit. I have seen this where there is a sample rate issue with the cable boxes. I would try to get another cable box, and see if the issue persists.
