Question about Insignia NS-PDVD8 Portable DVD Player
I second quavuama. I had the same symptoms after my four-year-old "broke" it. He actually figured it out and suggested the fix. He said "Daddy, the little button is stuck..." OK, yeah right, I said. But he pointed to the small auto shut-off button just above the source and setup buttons. When the lid closes the button is pushed down and off goes the picture. Well little four-year-old fingers was fingering the button and it got stuck in the down position. I used a sharp tip to work it back to the "sprung" position. Picture now comes on.

Look to the bottom right of the screen. on the console there is this plastic finger thingy. it sticks out to push a button on the bottom portion of the player. when you close the book the button pushes the button and turns off the screen, when the book is closed there is no need for the screen to be on. the button is designed like the old washing machines, the kind that stop agitating when the door is open, same principle. chech the button that the plastic finger pushes, it may be stuck. if it is use a strong needle to finagle the button free.
