Execute following sequence to force cooktop reconfiguration (Be sure the good ESEC20 UIB is installed into the cooktop)
1-Put all rotary control to the first detent position clockwise (1 o'clock).
2-Put all rotary control to the first detent position counterclockwise (11 o'clock). The system should then reconfigure, showing walking dashes on the cooking zones displays.
3-Put all rotary controls to "Off" position. There should be no more error code and the cooktop is ready for operation.

Stopped during self clean--already replaced thermal fuse---it appears cooling fan was never connected, and it does not work once connected. All other functions appear to work, except power to the fan

Is the control panel completely dead?? If the cooling fan under the cooktop was not working, in most cases the main control board or control transformer if it is separate will get heat damaged and need replaced. That cooling fan is there to keep everything from over heating mainly during clean but should come on during normal baking if it gets too hot under the cooktop.

Kenmore electric range model 790 oven stopped functioning, both broiler and bake. however, oven light still comes on.

I believe there is a thermal fuse (also called a TCO or Thermal Cut-Out) located either on the back of the oven, or between the top of the oven and the cooktop that has opened up. Did this happen after running a self-clean cycle?

From the manual:

To turn the Cooktop Lockout Feature OFF:
1. Press and hold (_ until "CLO" appears (Figure 3). Continue holding
until a second beep sounds (after 3 seconds). I_1will disappear from
the display indicating the cooktop may be used normally (Figure 4).
Note: Starting a Self-Clean cycle will automatically turn ON the Cooktop
Lockout feature. The cooktop will remain locked until the Self-Clean cycle
has completed and the oven door has unlocked. If a power failure occurs
after the Cooktop Lockout has been activated, you must turn OFF the
Cooktop Lockout feature before being able to use the cooktop features
again.

Feature not available

I had the same problem with a new kitchenaid range which they have agreed to replace after 1 month. Oven shut off a couple times while baking and feature not available displayed when trying to turn on oven again. I tried starting clean cycle and waiting a couple minutes for element to heat then cancelled clean cycle. Oven worked fine after this but this shouldnt be a solution, obviously something not wired right.

Fan/stove light switch broke needs replacing

The original fan switch for the SEG196 (circa 1995) is a four terminal switch- two for the fan and two for the light . Note that the switch spade lugs for the red and blue wires (which when connected activate the fan) are larger than those for the white and brown wires (which when connected activate the oven light). This design presumably prevented miswiring of the switch at original assembly. Since the four terminal switch is nearly impossible to find (it was discontinued several years ago), an inexpensive fix is to replace the four wire switch with a two wire SPST toggle switch. However, this means that either the fan function or the light function can be preserved- not both. I elected to keep the fan function, and simply wired the red & blue wires to the two terminals of a heavy duty replacement SPST toggle switch. Be sure to fully insulate the remaining (in this case) white and brown wires with electrical tape or wire nuts before tucking them below the new switch. Total cost: $6.00 for switch. Electrolux Induction Cooktop: My husband had a pot boil over, and now the cooktop controls are giving error codes - what should we do?

Power down, then back up. You will be lucky if that fixes it though. I had the same problem here. It is in-warranty so I called Electrolux. Parts came in only after requesting them multiple times. Repairman put them in and they were bad. After a month it is still broken. I was promised a new unit, but little real action. Electrolux is a horror. No way to DIY this thing, too complicated. Cut your losses and buy another brand.
