You need to change the boot order to make the machine read the cd drive first. When starting the computer you need to press F2.This will get you into the start up bios menu.Find the boot order and make it use the cd drive as the first device. Now restart your machine withe the cd in the drive.
hi there are only 2 ways to do that. 1st re-install windows or 2nd to a system restore that is restoring your pc to an earlier time..The best way to do a a factory rest is to format everything and re-install windows.. Thats all
Remove the ram you just installed. Then go http://www.crucial.com/
Let them scan your computer and they will tell you exactly what type ram you need to install.
Insert the restore cd and restart your computer. Watch the screen and press enter when you see Boot to CD. Than follow the onscreen prompts to restore your computer to factory conditions.
If you do not see the option to boot from cd it may be your computer has a key combination like F12 to enter boot options or you may have to set the boot order in bios.
Please NOTE: This procedure will cause a loss of all data. If possible you may want to back up all your data prior to restoration.
First try a simple windows pc restore, go to the start menu, then to help and restore center and click on "restore my computer to an earlier date" then choose a date before your son mucked up your PC. Boot in safe mode if it wont boot (repeatedly tap f8 during boot)
If this doesnt work ring your pc manufacturer and they will send you restore disks.
If you have built the PC yourself ring microsoft and give them you windows product key and they will send you a new copy of windows.
start computer, hit the Esc key when it starts up, till the set up page comes up find the hard disk and hit enter save and restart. Windows should come back up. What kind of computer year? Windows 98? XP?
You will not be able to set all the programmes back to original as you have no disc and wont be able to get a replacement unless you have spoken to Insignia support, but you can format the pc to the operating systems original installation without the installed programmes by using a friends XP cd, but use you own product code number which will be on a sticker on your tower system, as its the license you pay for and not the actual cdrom.
Sounds like you want to start a fresh install from your CD/DVD?
as soon as you turn on the computer, hit the del key to get into the BIOS (or pay attention during POST as it'll tell you what key to push)
Once in there, you'll want to goto the "boot options" tab and set the CD/DVD-ROM to start up first and then the hard drive.
Press Esc and save, as it starts up, it should say "hit any key to install windows" and then it's just a matter of following instructions to finish.
If all you are trying to do is a system restore, you can goto:
Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> System Restore
and then restore it to a earlier time.
I need a copy of the restore cd can anyone please upload a copy to me asap.
not bootup the system
