Question about Canon PowerShot A80 Digital Camera

Blurry picture on Canon A80

Hi, I can take a shot using my Canon A80, but I always get blurry picture full of horizontal red stripes. Strangely, I can do movie recording without any problem. I have spent hours changing all the setup, but the problem still persist.

Canon techinician said that it is not CCD image problem, since I can clearly see the scene on my LCD and viewfinder. I've tried to search on the Internet, but found no solution. Any idea on how to solve it? Thank you so much, and I really appreciate it..

I don't know what you told that technician, but try this. Download some of your pictures and videos to your computer. If the downloaded pictures look fine on your computer, then the technician was right, and it's probably just a loose LCD ribbon cable connection.

BUT if the downloaded pictures also look blurry with stripes, then it's probably a faulty CCD imager. If so, Canon should fix this for you for free, including free shipping both ways. This is regardless of your camera's warranty status. BUT MAKE SURE you tell the technician this time that it is showing up on your DOWNLOADED pictures. I recommend trying again, and hope for a more knowledgeable tech on the line this time. Please check the following two links for more info:

My pictures are always blurry, even when I focus in for a second before I take the picture. Please help. I am holding my camera very still all the time and the picture is ALWAYS blurry, no matter even if I...

the shooter has two positions . one (half push) is for focusing and after full push is shot. When you take a picture, you see some green squares ? or only one square in the middle ? if that square is not green and is red. Your camera can`t make focus. One reason is because is on macro mode. If you see a flower on the LCD, that means is in the macro mode and you have to deactivate that function.

Automatic "Portrait" mode would work best for what you describe. It's the setting showing the profile of a woman on your mode dial. Try it both with and without flash (press the "lightning bolt" button on the back of your camera).
