Question about JVC AV-48WP30 48" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

Which IC should I replace if the RED is off?

I had this replaced before and I can see which one was changed. That being said should it be the same IC this time since it's the same color that is off? Does anyone have info on what each IC controls/does?

Thanks,
Tony

You would need the service manual to dtermine which IC controls the red. One IC controls red and the other controls blue. If the red was replaced before. It probaly went out as some suppliers dont use origional sanyo ICs. Which unfortunately dont last as long as the sanyo parts do.

On that model the conv IC is usually not the solution. I believe its the blown capacitor problem with is an easy fix. Check the site www.TvRepairKits.com for a repair kit.

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. Then it means the problem is with the convergence board and it’ll require to be replaced to resolve the issue.

Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

Convergence problem

replace the convergence ic. the IC# is STK392-120, replace this two ic at the same time. then put some silicon grease on the back of the IC for better heat transfer. some will work on replacing just 1 IC but I would recommend to replace both per philips advise. hope this help. regards, cebuwano.

Thought I had a convergence problem - red is still broke

KCOZI,

I dont think you have problem with Red Gun.
One of your Convergence IC is faulty with 2 RK series Resisitor(Low Value) in Convergence
Amp Borad. If you changed IC look for RK series Resistor (may be 3.9ohm/2.7ohm)

Dont forget to Rate!

Good Luck

Convergance- Red X will not move to make crosshairs white. Picture is doubled with red and blue. TV is a 55 in Mitsubishi VS55601.

Hi,
This problem is related to the Convergence controller IC called STK.It must get malfuntioning replace the STK IC with the same numer IC. But one thing is importent that there must be two IC STK's and you have to change both of them.
Thanks

Which IC is for red convergence?

you need to replace both because they are both linked together with the green as each IC controls one color fully and half the green, so when one IC fails that places a strain on the other IC through the green, so that one will soon follow. You need two STK392-120 ICs and you will also need four 6.8 ohm 1 watt resistors. You can get replacement ICs and resistors at the following link with free installation instructions with pictures so you can do the repair yourself. Heres the link.

Convergence

If the red isnt responding via the remote you will need to replace the STK392-110 Ics as the service menu adjustment will not correct it 100% due to the IC being faulty and the red and half the green is controlled by one IC and the blue and other half of green is controlled by the second IC so without changing both ICs the set will progressively get worse. Both ICs are stk392-110. You can get replacements at the following link along with instalation instructions

Convergence circut

Usually there are 2 convergence IC's, labeled STK392-110. Each IC has 3 channes. Each color needs to be corrected 2 ways, vertically and horizontally, so 6 channels are needed. usually one IC does red, red and haf of green while the other IC does the other half of green, blue and blue. If the red colors are off, change the IC closest to the red jack. If the blue is off, change the IC closest to the blue jack. If the green is out, you have a 50/50 shot at replacing the correct IC. It is recommended to use the STK392-150 when replacing the IC's so it might not be a bad idea to go ahead and replace both with the newer numbers.
