Not sure because this was 20 years before I was born, but the 70's erra seats has the handle with the fork/finger locking teeth with the return spring on the drivers side and there was a tiny hole on the inside where the wire goes.On the under side of the seat attached to the steel wavey springs there were loops just like hog rings that were used to route the wire to the locking lever on the other side.If this is the type of set up you could also use the hard plastic air line.Any heavy truck parts place will have it and it comes in many sizes.Would be easy to rout your wire thru.Well hope the helps and good luck.

Can the steering tube shaft bearings be adjusted (by shims) on an early 1948 8N?

You can get an answer for sure at mytractorforum.com. You may have to join to ask but you can search their forum to see if this has already been asked. There is a sub forum in the large tractor section devoted to these old Fords. They are a very helpful bunch and it only takes a few minutes to join and no money.

Drivers seat is stuck in farthest back position and will not slide forward.

Check under the seat where the guide rails are and look tovsee if the wire underneath is pulling to release both sides of the seat on the rails or one side. If it's not releasing both sides you have to check to make sure there is nothing stuck in the guide rails (coins perhaps). If all is clear you'll have to adjust the rod or cable that attaches to the lever of the seat to make it release both sides so the seat unlocks and moves easily.

We have a 199 Chevy conversion van that has a full bench seat in the very back with a rear facing seat and we can't figure out how to lay the seat down now that we need to. The switch will click when...

I have the same problem. found out you like i have a power fold down seat. there should be a small motor mounted underneath the rear seat. attached to it are two cables. those cables are what move the seat up and down. check to see if the cables are broken or snapped apart. then check all the seat levers support bars to find out if any of them are bent or misaligned. that can cause your cables to break.

How do you move the bench seat forward? It seems

There is a cable running from the lever to the latch on the passenger side and it has stretched. Feel around under the seat and you should be able to grab hold of it.Give it a yank after you have pushed the lever and it should release, letting you move the seat. I don't know if it's replaceable but you could use an emergency brake cable adjuster to shorten it so it would work. Hope this helps.

Rear bench seat

The only way to remove this is to unbolt it from the sliding rails. I do believe it would still leave some parts in the rails. This seat was designed to only slide forward and not be removed. If you insist on removing it, then you must unbolt it from the sliding rails...
