MP4 is a codec that is not compatible with this DVD player. Your DVD player will play store bought DVDs just fine. Please read the specifications in the owners manual to see what codecs are compatible with your player.
Do you have Power DVD on you laptop or any DVD software to enable you play DVD plate? If no, then Install Power DVD software. After the installation, then try to play it again with the Power DVD software. You can download Power DVD from freeware site http://www.4shared.com/get/OLyshBOX/POWER_DVD_40_Full_Retail.html Good luck
please make sure you have properly installed your sound card drivers.. check this by playing any other music file it you hear some sound then download this codec pack and install it

H264 is a "mov." file. Windows media player11 and Power DVD 9 do not support this type of file. If you don't like QuickTime, there are many free media players that will support it (VLC is a good one). You could convert the mov. file to an avi. file with a video converter program. Then your avi. format movie will play in WMP
OK, try this then
Put in a dvd again, when asked if you want it to open with Power DVD, press yes
When power dvd open, DONT press play, in the meny you will find the add button, press that one, and point it to the dvd, that will hoppfully mount the image to the power dvd since you told the program where the file is.
You know that power dvd dosent lay all formats right? so if it is a burned dvd you trying to play make sure that it is a format supported with power dvd
go to device manager and scan for new hardware changes or try to update the drivers for the device.. if it doesnt work try to reinstall the power dvd 6 or update it with a new version...btw poer dvd 8 are available now
