Question about Kitchen Ranges

1 Answer

Oven trouble I was baking on 500 and I looked in my oven and the coil was white hot and sparking - I turned the oven off, waited a couple of minutes and then turned it back on to show my husband...now it won't turn on. Does anybody know what just happened - did I have some kind of electrical short? Many thanks for any help you can offer, Daphne in CT

terrific! Is this a part that we can order and install ourselves or do we need to hire a repair company?

Again, thank you for your help!

no you can do it just go to any appliances repair store with your model number and get the bake element most of the time you just remove the two screws from the element inside the oven after shutting off the power of course and pull it forward un plug the wires put them on your new element and slide it back in some times you have to remove the back panel for this but rarely

Element in oven gets red hot, burns food being baked, will not shut off unless I unplug oven. how to fix?

You need a new thermostat or oven sensor. These people are pretty good but I am have trouble find details on the model number you gave. This gives an idea.

If it's an electric oven, then it may be a baking element gone bad. When mine went bad the rest of the oven worked but not the bottom oven baking section. Mine made popping noises and sparks when it went out. Look for a break or burnt spot in the heating coil in the bottom of your oven. I replaced mine for about $50

Feature not available

I had the same problem with a new kitchenaid range which they have agreed to replace after 1 month. Oven shut off a couple times while baking and feature not available displayed when trying to turn on oven again. I tried starting clean cycle and waiting a couple minutes for element to heat then cancelled clean cycle. Oven worked fine after this but this shouldnt be a solution, obviously something not wired right.

Oven won't heat.

Good Afternoon Gwen - Try reprogramming the range by unplugging it or flipping the household circuit breaker off. Wait approximately ten minutes and turn the unit back on. If issue persists, then the unit could possibly be experiencing an issue with a wiring failure, EOC (electronic oven control), sensor probe and/or faulty bake or broil element. I would strongly recommend consulting a professional to narrow down the precise issue before investing in parts that may or may not be the root cause.

I had this with my oven, it just kept getting hotter and hotter. Had to replace the whole control panel. Mine was a Kenmore but I suspect they are similar.

GE Profile gas range - stove works, oven doesn't heat

Set the oven for bake. Wait a couple minutes and look in the oven. If you see a orange glow the ignitor is working, but, may need to be replaced.
If you see no orange glow the ignitor definitely needs to be replaced.

All 4 stove burner coils only work partially

You should check electricity coming to the range. On the back of the range you will find small square cover which cover power cord connections. Be very careful not be shot by electricity. It should be 240V(between red and black wire) and 120V (between red and white and also black and white wire). If it is than you have a shortage or some broken wire inside the stove.
