That may simply be a windows problem, not being able to auto run the the program. Double click on "My Computer" icon, make sure that the Linksys Cd is recognised by the windows. You will Know by the name displayed with the CD icon. If it is, right click on the CD icon, select the explore option, search for setup.exe file and double click on it to start the installation. If not, either the Drive or the driver Cd is defective.

Open windows explorer.(START-PROGRAMS-ACCESSORIES-WINDOWS EXPLORER)
click the +, by my computer, click once on the cd rom, find the setup or autorun file in the right hand pane and double click it and the cd should start.

I lost the startup disk for my wrt54g router. How can I set up my router now?

Hello there
If you can get online with a computer that you want to use download the setup files from the linksys website onto the computer and then after this is completed you can install it from there
Just make sure you have the exact router model numbers there are a lot to choose from ok?
Best regards Mike

Lost startup disk

Are you trying to get the router settings through the IP address 192.168.1.1? If that doesn't respond, look at the back of the router for a small reste hole. With the router power plugged in, use a paper clip to reset the router config back to default. Hold the reste switch in for 30 seconds and pull the power afterwards while holding the switch in. Try that. There really shouldn't be a set-up disc needed for Windows XP or Vista. If you are using a DSL connection, I am sorry to inform you, but there is only 1 dependable router for wireless DSL and it is made by D-link. If you still feel you need a set-up disc, look on linksys website and search their archived download section.
