Hi, I used to repair a monitor from Dell. You might have to check what wrong with your monitor by shining a flashlight into the screen, not directly but find the best angle to the screen and take a look very closely. If you can see the icons or any image, there will be a minor problem like broken lamps and it is very easy to replace. But the most important part is you need to know how to teardown the screen. Actually, a flat dell screen has 4 screws at the rear panel and no ***** for front frame. For you LCD monitor, If there is no visible *****, you have to look for "capped" ***** holes (little covers that fit flush with the case to hide the screws). If you don't see these neither, this must be a tension fit case. So, following these step by step
1. face the screen up and look for "rectangular hole" on the side edge (usually at the bottom edge of the screen). This will be a challenge to open without breaking it.

2.You'll need a very thin flat ***** driver and wedge it into that narrow rectangular hole. You can use any prybar if you don't have ***** driver.

3.It is not too deep. You may stab something important inside and pry it. Once it starts to spread, start sliding it along the seem and you should feel the tension tabs start "popping" open. 4.Continue to work your way around until it's off.

Hope this help you to get the remove the back cover off. If there is anything I can help you with, feel free to let me know.
Thank you,

If your LCD TV or monitor has stopped working, or is displaying one of the following symptoms, then it's a candidate for some new capacitors
- Flickering screen
- Screen image disappears after several seconds
- Dim screen
- Slow start
- Power LED on, but no picture
- Unusual colors and/or lines
The primary cause of LCD TV and monitor failure is caused by faulty capacitors. You can examine the capacitors in your LCD TV or monitor and actually see if they are bad.
If they appear bulged on top, then they need to be replaced.
New capacitors will solve a host of problems in LCD monitors and TV's and will extend the life of your monitor or TV by several years.
Check the cables, connectors and connections.
Take it to a repair shop.

As it appears it seems that the back of the unit is held together by clamps. I wouldn't advise you to go ahead with the dis-assembly because you risk breaking the clamps. But if you must do it proceed with caution. Start prying open from the bottom screws toward the top of the unit. Use a plastic wedge to help the prying. It really comes down to finesse and experience. If you don't feel confident doing it don't do it as you might break it irreparable. The mount should be usable even mounted in 3 points. On the other hand the loose nut could cause some damage short circuiting the board. \

Power Button won't turn off, screen is black. I'm told it's probably a broken capacitor and I can change it out if I know how to solder, which I do. I removed a square panel off the back of the moni

Okay this is how you can work it out. The board that you have to access is the one where you plug in the power cable. Get a sharp-flat object to open it up. Start from the bottom carefully working your way up. You will notice small finger-like clips that hold the two covers together. When you get access to that board, take note of any bulged or leaking capacitor(s). If you find any, then thats the problem. When you switch on your monitor, the Capacitors in your monitor hold down power long enough for the proper display on your monitor. Faulty capacitor(s) will only hold power for less than 5 seconds. Unable to remove LCD screen from back cover to get to capacitors

I just disassembled one of these this afternoon. They don't seem to have been built to take apart.

I removed the connectors from the display panel end.

The small connectors are designed so that you push down on the little tab while pulling to remove, but when you push the tab the connector drops below the edge of the frame which prevents it from coming out. I had to gently pry out the connectors with a small flat screwdriver from each corner of the frame.

Once you get the small connectors out you can get a better look at
the larger connector. It is glued to the frame. When you pry the glue to break it free do it so you are moving the connector to come away from the edge of the board. It will come off with the glue. On mine it peeled away a section of one side of the connector but I think will still work.

I'm not happy with the way this monitor comes apart. Even after taking this one apart I doubt I could take another one apart without the same kind of butchery.

The monitor comes on to desktop then goes blank, and flashes, if I tap or tilt the monitor it will come back , but then go blank again

You have a bad connection on the signal input to the screen.

This is probably the input socket on the monitor, but try a different cable first. If that does not help then it is the socket on the monitor.

You will need to disassemble the monitor to check solder joints on the video in socket.

If you are not comfortable with that process then it has to be a repair centre.

I may be able to offer further advice if you want to tackle it youself.

Can't remove cover of Westinghouse LCM-22w2 monitor

Hey Ed,

I hope I can help, It doesn't open from the back, it opens from the front.... carefully! There are four support screws, which hold the LCD screen to the desk stand, after removing all the support screws (4) on the back under the support stand cover.(which pull up to remove) (Remember! the whole case and face frame is plastic, so take your time). Work to separate the black face frame around the LCD from the silver case. Its held together by small plastic clips on the face frame to the wall on the LCD case. Start at one of the corners and slowly pry the face frame and silver case apart. (separate it inch by inch, work your way around the case carefully. If one corner doesn't give, go to another side.
Putting back together works reverse, the face frame and the case snap back together, Carefully! And replace screws (4).

P.S. I have three LCD models from Westinghouse, LCM-22w2, L2210NW and the L1916HW. They all open the same way.
