My Acer 5520 Laptop webcam claims to be ''busy''

My Acer 5520 Laptop webcam usually works, but when sometimes it says it's already in use when I know for a fact I only just started it. Any idea what it could be? the only way I know to fix it is to reboot/put to sleep/ disrupt my work

There must be some program or even part of the Cam software still running in the background. Next time it happens run task manager and you will see what it is. You can simply highlight it and end task or possibly modify the way its installed. Hope this helps..cheers from Scott

Acer laptop Crystal Eye webcam

The clearest connection for webcam is not Yahoo, it's Windows live messanger--I'd definitely give it a try. you can get your Acer webcam (which actually is a logitech) working in two ways: bizarrely, sometimes you need to move all your photos to a new folder, leaving the original empty. if that doesn't work, try reinstalling the original webcam sofware as follows: actually, first go to control panel, then check out device manager to see if you have any nasty big checks. If imaging devices has a big check, try reinstalling the driver there. If that doesn't fixya, click on Start, then Acer Empowering Technology, then Acer E-Recovery, and choose Restore Apps and Drivers at the bottom of Restore tab. It will extract; then click Install for Vista or (XP) on the left - click Drivers - Camera or CCD - on the right side of the screen for your model which you saw in device manager. you and your friends should set up Live Messanger per their directions--much clearere images, as i said. Please let me know if that doesnt do the trick.

Acer Crystal Eye Webcam

well fist the size that it is says is creating the error is interesting. My guess is that the fault is because the picture you are trying to access is actually a GIF. If this is the case many camera software and even some of the graphic software will not read it. Try opening that picture in internet explorer and see what happens. To remove the fault what i would do is erase the picture or move it to another part of your hard drive. That way when you start the camera it will not be looking for that picture but another JPEG.
