When you install Win_XP, it detects your HDD and shows all the partitions it has and also the unaprtitioned space if any. you may select any partition from the list OR you may create a new partition from the unpartitioned space. You may be selecting the full space as one single partition due to which you are not able to install it on 2nd partition try to create all the partitions first and then choose one to install Win_XP.

Do vote for the solution.

What error message(s) do you get in denial during the installation process. What type of file system are both partitions. There must be a conflict in the file system or one of the partitions is not basic. The complain on the other hand appear incomplete for clear assistance. Please try and add some flesh to the complain so that I can help.

Dual Boot Xp & windows 7

First you have to create partition. You need at least two partition. One in which you intall Xp and other for win 7. WARNIG BACK UP YOUR DATA BEFORE THIS.*(You can create partion by any hard drive manager you can make a hard drive partition in control panel>administrative tool>create & manage hard drive partition)
Now install xp first in one partition. If you have pre installed then avoid this step.
Now install Win 7 in another partition.
After you restart the machine will ask to chose your os. & just select the required OS.

If any problem appears then just put win XP disk & repair it.

You cant install win Xp after windows 7.
You have to format win 7 before installing Xp.
Commiting any of trick or Tweak you need to backup your data in another HD partition

Win vista uninstall

Put your window XP disk into the Disk drive. Start up your computer. When it asks you what Drive you want to install it on select C:\ (where Vista is) Say yes to deleting the current Operating System and follow the instructions from there.

You did say you wanted to Uninstall Vista!

If you mean Dual Boot Vista and XP, then you will need to create a Logical Partition of about 10 Gb to install XP on and when asked where to install select this partition. But note that XP will wipe the Boot sector clean of all other Operating Systems which means that if you want to Dual boot then you will have to reinstall Vista again to get Dual Boot functionality.

Booting

dear one

you have already used the HP Operating CD to set up your hard drive (and formatted your hard drive, and installed XP, and installed the drivers, and really don't want to do that again), you can still “fix” the partitions - as long as you have the space for Quickplay outside the XP partition.

1. Boot from you HP operating system disk.
2. Press ENTER to set up Windows XP
3. Press F8 to accept License Agreement
4. With your XP partition highlighted (it’s usually C:) press Esc.
5. Make sure you have at least 250MB of unpartitioned space after your XP partition. (If you don’t, you probably have to delete XP and start all over.) I had to delete the 204 MB partition I created in the first place.
6. Once you have your XP partition and at least 250 MB of unpartitioned space, press F3 to quit. (Don’t mess with the XP partition!)
7. Press F3 again.
8. Remove your HP operating system disk.
9. If you’re really fast, you can stick your Quickplay disk in before it reboots. Otherwise, let XP load, put in your Quickplay disk, and restart.
10. Quickplay should load successfully.
11. Note that when this is done, Quickplay will actually only use 204 MB of the space after your XP partition. It just needs more than that to actually run I guess.

oke
