Can't conect to internet with my dsl modem

Check to see if you already have a PCI card installed, its common to buy one from a store or a private person and the on-board card does not work and a PCI card installed, check the back of the PC to see if there is a 2nd NIC port avail. and before you go spending money on another PCI card check your device manager to ensure your are not having driver issues. in closing, check your network cables as well and make sure they are all securly plugged in on both ends.

When i first connect my daughters computer with an belkin wireless router than i stop working than i purchase an d-link not thinking it would make a different but it didn't and still not working do i ahve...

No you can't use two routers (without being an expert to set them up correctly!). Make sure the Belkin isn't plugged in while you're setting up the D-Link. To diagnose the culprit, try these steps:

1) Plug your daughter's computer directly into the ethernet port of the DSL or Cable Modem. You'll need to do this to rule out your Daughter's PC as the problem. If it works fine, then move to step 2. If her computer still isn't working, and another computer connected the same way DOES work - then you need to work on your daughter's computer, becasue that's where the problem lies.

2) Ok since you confirmed your daughter's PC is just fine - and also the DSL or Cable connection is working as well - this indicates most likely the router(s) are at fault. So let's work with the D-Link, since we're not sure if the Belkin is working. Like I said, be sure the Belkin is completely unplugged and powered OFF. Now plug the D-Link into your DSL or Cable modem ethernet port. Turn on the D-Link, make sure the correct indicators are lit on both the DSL/Cable modem and the router. Reboot your daughter's PC and right-click on the wireless networking icon on her taskbar. Choose view available wireless networks - if you see your D-link listed, then the router is working! If you still can't connect - try disabling WEP/WAP and try again. Most likely it's just a security setting that's off.

Good Luck!

To be honest, if you just bought it, it should be covered by a warranty. (Did you register the printer with HP?) HP has a lot of information and troubleshooting steps on their web site. Have you tried there? You can probably get technical help from them through phone service as well.

I have a netgear wireless router. I plugged it into my actiontec wireless ready dsl gateway. How do i get it to work wireless

Assuming the dsl gateway your talking about is the one in the link below

http://www.homenethelp.com/web/review/actiontec-router.asp

You do not need to use another wireless router as the gateway you have already is one. On your wireless pc you should be able to see it in the list of wireless networks available to you.

I upgrated the fireware for my D-link 502T, but I found it is dead. only power light is on. I tried reset, but it seems not help, then what so I do? thanks a lot!

The only thing to really try is holding the reset button and trying to logon to the router with a web browser. If the firmware update failed i don't believe there's much that can be done.

My sbc yahoo dsl installer has a crack can I install any other way.

Yes, you can. The setup I have seen most often uses what they call a "2Wire HomePortal".

Set the hardware up and make all the connections as instructed in the setup materials from SBC Yahoo (It's really quite simple: the phone line from the jack with the filter provided plugs in the phone line jack on the "Home Portal"--a simple router often called a DSL "modem"--and the ethernet cable into the other port on the "HomePortal" and into the RJ-45 jack on a computer)

Go to https://sbcreg.sbcglobal.net in the web browser of your choice. Note: it is an httpS address. The "s" is important.

If the web page comes up, simply follow the instructions on the page to establish an account.

If you don't get a registration page, try http://support.sbcglobal.net/register and follow the prompts.

NOTE: make sure the "HomePortal" router is easily acessible, because you will need its serial number duringh the process. The process MAY also establish a "temporary" login that you will have to replace with a permanent one.

Have second hand dlink dsl502t modem am trying to access modem to change settings. the modem is unsupported by my isp but they have told me it will work but i need to access the modem and enter my user...

Open a web browser (e.g. Internet Explorer, Firefox or Opera). Enter the IP address of your router in the address bar of the browser and press enter. The IP address of your router is by default 192.168.1.1

You see a box asking for your username and password.
By default the username and password for your D-link DSL-502T router are both admin
Enter your username and password and click the ok button to continue.

Netgear WGR614

First thing I did with my Netgear is this.
Plug in the dsl/cable modem to the PC directly. Then install the driver on the cd. If you are one of the unlucky types like I was, the router didn't come with a cd. Try going to Netgers page see if they have a driver. Most are basically auto install. Try this before you check the netgear site though. Plug in the cable/dsl modem to the router and the pc to the router. Resstart everything. This includes the modem, router and pc. When it pops back up, try seeing if that works. if not, try opening up Internet explorer. Type this in to the url. 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.1.0
That should bring up the netgear setup page for the router. If it ask for a password, the password on mine was
username - admin
password - password
It has an auto configure tab so click on that and that should automatically take care of everything for you. Let me know what happens!
