Lamp didn't strike

Hi,

lamps are affected by strikes. each strike erodes a part of the anode. so in essence, the lamp wears out. However a Xenon has a much longer hour life as once it is running, it cares "relatively" little about how long. SO for commercial units, this is an advantage. there are also larger potential issues about colour stability over life.

with UHP, they care only minimally about strikes, it really is not even a strike, so while frequent on and off can kill it early, with normal usage, you are going to be fine. However with a UHP, if a lamp runs for longer times... then you have issues. THe way i had it explained to me was as such;
With a UHP, it gets up to proper operating temp in about 5 mins. once it is there... it SLOOWWWLLLLLYYYYY continues to heat up. After about 2-3 hours, it starts going outside the nominal operating range. once it does so, it starts to degrade the lamp. thereby lowering life expectancy. if you shut it off after about two hours or so and let it cool for ten mins then do it again for two hours... you are in a much better place. In a grand scheme, apparently if you run the proj for an average of 4-6 hours every time, then expected lamp life goes to about 50%. THis is very rough and in a general sense so just take it as general guidelines.

TIPS TO EXTEND PROJECTOR LAMP LIFE:

Lamp life for a projector will vary based on many factors including application, installation, intake of cool air and exhaust of hot air, usage, and proper maintenance. Heat buildup can reduce lamp life and even damage your projector. Here are some tips to help your projector lamps last longer.

Once you turn on your projector, wait at least five minutes before turning it off to allow the fan to properly cool the unit. After the fan has cooled your projector, you may unplug it and store it as desired.

Do not obstruct the air intake or exhaust vent. Paper should not be placed on top of a projector, or where vents are located.
.
Keep the exhaust vent at least two feet from any object.

If the projector is built into a compartment, wall, ceiling or shelf mount, the minimum distance requirement (usually at least two feet) stated in your owners manual must be maintained.

Clean the projector's air intake filter every three to six months -- or more frequently -- based on your operating environment.

Do not move your projector until the lamp has cooled (about five minutes).

Run your projector for two weeks and/or 20 hours shortly after your purchase. If the lamp is going to fail, it will usually occur within the first ten hours of operation. Lamp warranties typically last just 90-180 days from the date of purchase, rather than the first installation.

When you purchase a replacement lamp for your projector, remove the existing lamp and use the old lamp as your spare. If your projector is new, test the original lamp for the two weeks/20 hours before removing and storing as a spare.

I hope the info. which i have given you solves ur problem if not i am sad to say you have to get it repaired..

Goodluck,

I replaced the lamp on my NEC LT280, but am unable to reset the lamp so that the projector works again.

Whe the lamp exceeds 2100 hours (up to 3100 hours in ECO mode) of service, the projector cannot turn onand the menu is not displayed. If this happens, press the HELP button on the remote for 10 seconds to reset the lamp clock back to zero. When the lamp clock is reset to zero, the LAMP indicator goes out.

New lamp fitted to a 6121 uint but it says replace lamp as life has reached more than 2000 hours

Follow the procedure in the manual, as this counter needs resetting too. There may be a reset button near the lamp or cover.

Newer lamp not workering

I don't think that resetting the lamp is the problem if you have had it in there for a few months already. This lamp is rated for 2000 hours. That is abaout 1 year if you use it about 5 or 6 hours a day. If you don't use it that much you should get close to 2 years. There are a variety of factors that will reduce the life of your lamp. Do you let the fan continue to run after the projector is turned off? If not, you will see about half of the regular life. Are the filters clean? You can use a vacuum or rinse out foam filters to clean out the dirt and dust. The lamp needs good air circulation to cool evenly. Are the vents blocked or close to another componant? I'm pretty sure that you just need another lamp. If the lamp was purchased more then 4 months ago, you are probably out of warranty. You can save yourself some money if you buy the bare bulb and replace it in the old cartridge. It looks like the complete lamp module from Sharp runs around 295.00 but the usually have a bare bulb available. We supply a variety of brands fior each projector. You can contact me at 866-470-9877 or go to allprojectorlamps.com. Good luck!

Why is the 'lamp' button is lightning ?? but its work. are the lamp old ??

the lamp is only good for about 2000 hours (sometimes more, depending on the manufacturer's specs). the projector has a lamp timer to warn you when it get's close to the end of the lamp's life. i think it's time to change the lamp and reset the lamp timer. if you don't change it, it'll blow while it's on and possibly shatter.

My nec vt48 projector gets hot and turns off. It gives off 3 beeps a few seconds after

This problem and the error beep codes indicate a lamp that needs to be replaced. The correct part number for the lamp is VT85LP. Basically the lamps are rated with a life expectancy of 2000 hours. At the 2001 lamp hour (3001 in eco-mode) the LCD projector will power on, but not display an image, due to the indicator requesting the lamp be replaced and the lamp hours reset (hold the help button on the remote for 10 seconds when powering it on).

Mitsubishi HC900 Projector shuts down after 5 minutes.

You have 1 of 2 possible problems.

(1) You need a new lamp.

(2) You have an overheating problem.

Just a quick couple of notes about your projector. It is a DLP projector (not LCD) and as such the machine as no air filters to clean. It does have air intake and air exhaust grilles, but no air filters to clean. This next part comes directly from the owner' manual for your projector:

When the lamp operation time exceeds 2000 hours*1 *2, the projector automatically shuts off and can’t be used until the lamp is replaced and the lamp operation time is reset.

Your machine is designed to give visual warning messages at 1500 hours used, and 1900 hours used. Did you see any visual warning about lamp life over the past few months?

If you were experiencing an overheating problem, a "TEMPERATURE!!" message would flash up on the screen just before the unit shuts down. If there is no warning, you don't have a heat problem.

If you have a replacement lamp available, install it and reset the lmap hours according to your user manual. If you don't have the manual, google it on the web (it available).
