Question about Whirlpool GHW9400 Duet Washer

Duet HT has Knock in Spin cycle

I have a new Whirlpool Duet HT front load washer model WFW9400SZ01. The machine is 2 weeks old. From the time it arrived it has an audible knocking sound which is only produced as the drum spins in the spin cycle. The freqency of the knock is directly tied to how fast the drum spins and is metalic in sound - definetly not a water or drain hose knock. In fact the Service Tech who has looked at it had the back panel off while it spined and nothing appeared to be vibrating or hitting against anything. In fact he seemed at a loss to explain what it could be other than say "it's normal - don't worry about it". I'm rather skeptical with his diagnosis. What are your thoughts ? I haven't found anything on the internet about this. Oh, as well ... this is the second machine with this problem, the first one we sent back right after it was delivered. And no, we're not hearing things ! Thanking you in advance ... R.I.

Well id be leary myself and honestly not at the machine but the tech(s) that are looking at it. i would put back in for another call request a different company if possible.Theres probably 7-8 authorized Whirlpool service Companies in my area alone. acn demand that the tech call the Technical assistance line if unsure of problem.I cant see telling a cust "normal noise don't worry about". these units spin very quietly. On a side note they were installed correctly??? strange to get 2 with came problem..

Front load washers don't "agitate". Did you mean it doesn't tumble during the wash cycle? I need more information. Complete model # and a more detailed description of the issue.

I was washing beach towels and during the rinse/spin cycle the door popped open on my whirlpool duet ht (model GHW9400PL4). I haven't been able to close the door since it opened before the cycle was...

those have a 2 latch system, sounds like the second latch that engages during the spin cycle never quite completed the safety lock , you could try and jumper the latch to see if that would release it, But it seems the secondary latch wasn't working properly in the first place, even the heaviest loads shouldn't pop the door open,

Whirlpool duet ht washer make loud thumping sound during spin cycle

you could have a broken shock but most of the time it's a damaged spider gear and you'll need to replace the washer because the part alone is 500 bucks.you're using to much detergent and it eats at the spider gear and it falls apart

Whirlpool Duet Front Loader won't get up to spin speed

Careful of overloading the front-loading washers. Too much of this will result in the bearings in the drum to go bad. When this happens, the rpms on the drum slow down due to belt slack. You can only see this with the back off of the unit and in the middle of the cycle. They do not sell replacement bearings...you'll have to buy the whole drum (bearings pressed inside) and for 1/2 the cost of a new washer. I hate front-loaders. I'll never buy one again.
