I have an ILO 27" model DTV2794A, my problem is I have a black box appear on my screen. It leaves about a 1" area around it that shows the picture. I have swapped cable boxes and that did not fix it. It justs appears with no pattern. If I do anything, like adjust the volume, that makes the green infomation appear, the box goes away, but as soon as the info disappears, the box returns. It will then disappear on its own at some point.

Re: Black Box on Screen
Hello...try to power off by the switch on front panel..instead of remote...then pwr up the tv and maybe it's ok...or maybe try text clock function on off..and be sure that you are in "tv" mode..so it isn't in "semitxt" mode...good luck ron

It sounds like a text box that isn't receiving any text. If it covers almost the entire screen, then you might have accidentally got the settings into DEMO mode. It could also be a box for closed captioning, but that usually covers just the lower part of the screen. Either way, the solution is to go into the setup menu and restore facotry presets.
I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM WITH MY SANYO TV THE CABLE GUY TOLD ME HE HAD AN OLDER SANYO TV TO THAT DID THE SAME THING AND HE TOLD ME WHEN THE BOX APPEARS JUST HIT THE VOL + OR - BUTTON AND IT WORKS ALTHOUGH ITS A PAIN IN THE YOU KNOW WHAT WONDER WALMART HAD A BIG SALE ON MY TV.
This sound like a problem with the Closed Caption, on many sets if the C.C. is set to text a black box apears, and since it only happens on DVD you might look at the DVD menu and see if it has this Text featcher in the Closed Caption menu and turn it off
If you mean that a black box appears on the screen, and you can still see the picture around the box, it means that your closed captions are on and set to TEXT. If this is the case, enter the menu, navigate to the closed captions page and set the captions to OFF. If you mean that the top of the picture has collapsed down, the vertical circuit has stopped working correctly and the set should be serviced by a qualified tech.
