It powered on by itself and said "please wait". Then it shut off and after a minute or so it powered on by itself and said "please wait". Then shut off by itself and stayed off. Now we are unable to use our unit. We have tried new batteries in the remote, manually tried to turn the unit on with power button for 5 seconds, 10 seconds, 15 seconds, we unplugged and replugged the power cord--------Nothing!!! Any help would be appreciated. Thank-You!

Unit turns on and off but nothing else works

Simultaneously press the [CHANNEL UP] and [CHANNEL DOWN] buttons on the front of the DVD Recorder for approximately 10 - 15 seconds (until the unit powers off).

Disconnect the wall outlet. Wait for 10 minutes. Then power up.

Set clock on sd-kv550-su

Hi there,

There are two ways to set the clock on your machine, firstly by using the 'auto clock' feature and also a manual setup, if the auto setup doesn't work then you will need to setup your machine manually. the 'auto clock' feature will atempt set itself up and will take approx 4 mins for the machine to adjust itself. There is also a daylight saving setting which you can either have set to on or off. The auto and manual steps that I have added below have been taken from the user manual for your your Toshiba SD-V295 pages 24 - 26.

Hope this helps,

James

Auto Clock Adjustment
Preparation:
• Turn ON the TV and select the corresponding video input.
• Press VCR DVD selector to select the VCR mode.
(The VCR mode indicator will light.)
1. Connect the Antenna or Cable system.
If you use a cable box, turn it on.
2. Plug the AC power cord to the AC outlet.
3. Make sure the DVD/VCR is turned off.
If you press POWER, the Auto Clock set is not programmed.
4. Wait at least three minutes and press POWER.
5. Press CALL DISPLAY to check the clock setting on the on screen display.
6. If the clock is not set, check the antenna
condition. The AUTO CLOCK may not function properly if the reception condition
is not good.

Manual clock setting
1. Press VCR MENU.
2. Press SET + or – to select “SYSTEM SETUP”, then press ENTER.
3. Press SET + or – to select “CLOCK SET”, then press ENTER.
4. Press SET + or – to set the month, then press ENTER.
5. Set the day, year and time as in step 4.
6. After setting the clock, date and time starts functioning automatically

"Please wait" ... panasonic dmr-e85h seems frozen

Have you tried unplugging it for a couple of minutes?

The please wait message stayes in place and nothing else happens

This probably caused by 2 or more bad capacitors. Look online for instructions for soldering in new ones from Radio Shack. Replace with higher capacitance & voltage.

DVD Recorder frozen - please wait on display

You need to replace the STR-G6353 voltage regulator on the power supply board. Full proceedure with photos at this link: http://www.rbjtech.net/electrical/e85/e85.htm#0 I did this on my DMR-E85H and it now works like new.

U99

A U99 error code signifies a general communications failure and is not associated with any specific problem. It could even be related to the firmware version of your DVD recorder.

Try turning off the power and unplugging off-unplug for at least five minutes before reconnecting.

If U99 reoccurs, you should contact the Global Service Center Network for assistance.

Good luck!
