How can I clean this mouse. I remove the ball and brush debris out of the ball holder. That helps but I was wondering how to take the base appart. I took the screws out but I could not get the base to come appart. Please advise. It is the "marble mouse USB". glenna Auxier

Inspect the filter.Open the secondary filter on the base of the vacuum to ensure that dirt and debris have not collected on the filter, as this will limit motor performance. Remove the filter from the dust compartment and rinse with water to clean. Allow it to dry completely and return to the dust compartment.-------- Also check if dust bag is got over full and that is causing the problem.Open the dust compartment, take the old dust bag out of the bag holder and discard. Open the end of a new dust bag and attach to the dust bag holder. Close the dust compartment and tighten the dust cover. Also check properly that dust compartment is not got loose. Open cleaning attachment and check the hoses and nozzles on the frequently to ensure that they are free of dirt, obstruction or hair. Also inspect the brushes, if there is already dirt got stuck in the brushes and that is causing the problem.Clean the brushed.----------This will help, to confirm where the problem is and to resolve the dirt /debris issue.-----

Most likely your brush needs to be removed and cleaned. Clean all debris that might be in the bristles of the brush. You will see a holder for the brush on each end that holds it into the frame of the vacuum. The two holders should turn freely. If they do not, spray a bit of WD40 between the brush and the holders and rotate the holders around the brush. Doing this will clear up the most common occurring cause of the problem you are facing. One other important item is the belt that drives the brush. Make sure it has not broken or stretched. If it has, replace it while cleaning the brush. Good luck and feel free to contact me if you find this does not solve your problem. Paul

It may very well be that a belt is broken that runs the brushes.
However, the question is, what caused it to break?

Sounds like the beater brush the belt is supposed to turn has frozen up due to debris.
Remove the brush and clean all debris.
At the ends of the brush will be two fasteners that hold the brush in place, be sure all debris is cleaned from these and add a small amount of WD40 where the beater brush fits into these two small holders. Turn the beater brush around these holders by hand to be sure it moves freely.
Reassemble with new belt.
Sounds like the beater brush is frozen and won't turn. Remove the beater brush and clean off all debris, especially at both ends. You will find a square(?) piece at each end of the beater brush that holds it in place. This need to turn freely. Put a little WD40 on these where the center rod of the beater brush enters the small holders and turn by hand until they turn freely. Once this is done, assemble with new belt, making sure the belt is put on properly.
If your mouse is the older ball type hold the mouse level about 12 inches off the pad and move the ball on the underside of the mouse with your finger. If the cursor moves you may need to simply clean any dust from inside the device and clean the ball. Open the open to release the ball. Theres a round plate on the underside around the ball. Turn it to the open position a remove the ball. Clean any dust from inside with canned air or a soft brush. Clean the ball with a small amount of alcohol and let dry completely. Replace ball and plate and you should be ready to go.
If you have an infrared mouse, your mousepad may be too glossy. Dry a pad with a dull finish.
