I have exactly the same problem with my Acer Aspire 5630: my mousepad just stopped working, a couple of days ago. The only reason I can think of is that just before I changed the way ik log on: I set the Welcome Screen to 'off'. Of course I changed this back when I saw my mouse didn't work, but it was of no avail...

My friend was telling me today about something similar

I think it involved holding down the shift key for an absurd amount of time, otherwise it's some kind of internal problem

May be the integrated chip must have ceased working properly...

have you checked with your connections whether they are connected properly??

Laptop wont move or switch off

Hi,
please find some button near the mousepad. this is used to disable and enable the mouse arrow.. You might have accidentally clicked the button which disable your mouse.. so click it again to enable the mouse pointer.

I hope this is helpful to you.
Thanks

The left mouse button on my acer aspire 5100 laptop is broken. Can the plastic mouse button and surround be replaced?

Hi,

yea, its a very common problem with Mousepad hardware.
But, it might be costly since, only 5% customers face this due to less cautiousness of handling mousepad.

But as the answer to your question, it is easily replaceable.

Get it replaced by an authorised servicemen.
Hope it helps.

Thanks.

My mousepad won't work on my Aspire laptop. Ok, the mouse pad works (the pointer will move around), the physical button right click works (not double clicking), but any click on the mousepad and the left...

Check for dirt under the keys. See if you can blow under key and turn the laptop on it's side while you're doing it so anything under it can fall away.

Laptop is turning on-but everything seems frozen

If you have a second set of functions on the buttons that are in blue or another color they may have been turned off. My kids like to play with my notebook and they did that. Just hold the function button (mine is blue and labeled 'Fn') I just hold that and press the button that corresponds with my mouse (a pointing hand in a rectangle).

Other than that I dont know what would work.

look for a new mousepad on ebay and install it, it's prolly worn out OR, the connector to the mouse pad is barely making contact inside the case.

Mouse pad problem, cursor is moving but click function is not working

Try to enter BIOS (press ESC on start up) and see if mousepad is set correctly.
Otherwise try to download updated drivers from Toshiba website.
