Please specify the device that you installed in your COMPAQ. Is the COMPAQ your desktop?

go back into the pc make sure you earth yourself first, by touching the metal casing of the pc,and check ever connection their is, as you may have moved something by accident

    • all cables both power and data ribbons to motherboard & to the drives, give them a push to make sure they are seated correctly

    • make sure no cables are interfering with the cpu fan

    • push down on the memory sticks

    • push down on any video card installed

    • push down on any other card that is in the pc

if nothing improves obtain a boot disc and see if the pc will boot up of it,you may need to go into the Bios so that the pc will boot up of the floppy .usualy pressing delete key when booting up will get you into the Bios . but look on the screen when booting up to see what key to push.

if it boot up of the flopppy it is a hard drive problem either it has the system files corrupted which mean you need to either recover the pc from a recovery partition on the hard drive or it has died and needs replacing.

    good luck with that

it may be that you zapped the motherboard with static electricity and killed it when you installed the wireless card .

a last thought hit F8 when you turn on the pc ,it may boot into safe mode ,if you are lucky and it does ,use the restore function in windows to an earlier date.

if my comments are worthy please rate them

    cheers

More than likely. Especially if you bought the new card from a different company than the one that made your machine. Look on the card for model info, and google "(#model) wireless driver download".

You should be able to go into Control Panel -> Network and Sharing Center and select Setup a connection or network to bring up a wizard that will guide you through the process of setting up your wireless connection.

you shoul also have a wireless icon on the x6. if someone is using your wirless link and you are not. the wireless icon should be flashing.
if you don't have the wirelss icon, then you have to have software to monitor the modem activity.

Blank screen

When you say "When I turn on the computer the monitor acts like it is getting no power", do you mean the light on monitor doesn't come on or it does and it states it has "No Signal"? If it says no signal then it is receiving power just no signal from computer. What kind of connection is it? Digital(white) or analog(blue)? Is the keyboard wireless or is it PS/2?

If the keyboard isn't wireless and you're plugging the monitor in correctly I would say it's a power supply issue. Try changing the outlet you're using and/or bypass the surge protector to plug directly into wall.

Actiontec (GT704WG) Wireless Router Lights

Yes, this is normal. The flickering lights are showing activity - data is being transferred when the light is on, and vice versa. The power light should always be on when the unit has power. The DSL light should be solid as long as your DSL line is connected properly.
