Question about Westell Wirespeed VersaLink (A99-327W11-00) Router (A99327W1100)
Get the ip config information using either the command prompt from the windows accessories programs menu using the command: ipconfig/all. You will need two sets of numbers from this readout: Your physical address and the default gateway.
Open the modem from your browser using the default gateway numbers given.
Once on the modem webpage establish your administrative name and password. If the first time try using "admin" for ID and "password" for password then assign a new one for your use only.
Go to wireless options section, security option. Turn on the wireless function if you want ifand establish the level of encryption you want, usually 128K. If you go higher remember the info being sent will be broken up into more packages therefore slowing the transfer process. Establish a password as directed by the written text, usually 12-14 hexadecimal for the 128K level. Though you might be told to use either all numbers or letters the best passwords are a combo of both with special symbols. For instance you might pick a sentence to remember "The cow jumped over the moon." The password might look something like [email protected]
Once you've established an encrypted modem then enter the password into your properties menu for the LAN connection on your computer. Find this in the control panels under network connections. This should be enough to eliminate the problem. The next bit of advice I'll give will hide your modem from snoopers and secure it within your home or network to only those computers you want on it.
Go to CNet or PCWorld for more in depth security involving the enabling and use of MAC addresses. Very important and the real security your computer needs. Good luck.

You can set up your WIRELESS SECURITY SETTINGS.
Open DOS Prompt, on the black screen type ipconfig, then click enter. Look for default gateway(it will look like this----192.168.1.x
Open your Internet Explorer, type the 192.168.1.x then click enter. This will take you to the configuration page. Click on CONFIGURATION, then click WIRELESS. Set up your security. Make sure you take note of your settings OR ELSE YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO CONNECT TO YOUR WIRELESS NETWORK ALSO BECAUSE OF THE SECURITY THAT YOU SET UP.
